Disney Wonder Cruise Multigenerational Travel: Magic, Memories, and Family-Friendly Fun With Grandmother, Daughter and Granddaughter!

On March 6th of this year, my daughter and granddaughter joined me on family vacation I will never forget. Thanks to a 5-day cruise on Disney Wonder, the magic was in all the memories we made. It was a three-generation girl-getaway that was packed with princesses, family-friendly food, an endless supply of fun, and, of course, Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

The Disney Wonder is a magnificent ship with 11 decks. With a theater that hosts Broadway-style shows each night, a movie theater playing your favorite Disney films, youth and family clubs, pools, and multiple restaurants you are sure to stay busy exploring this massive ship.

Before you embark on your Disney journey, bring some fun magnets from home to personalize your stateroom door. As you walk the halls you will notice a lot of the guest rooms display Disney magnets and even the family name outside their door. Some magnets feature a place for people to sign their name on a draw erase board or use several magnets to build your own Mickey Mouse like we did. Kids may even want their favorite Disney character featuring their own name to hang themselves. Get creative! You can make your own or order some from Amazon.

Pools

The Disney Wonder has three pools for their guests. A children’s pool, a family pool and a pool for adults only.

Mickey’s Pool

The kid-friendly pool is only 2-foot-deep and is in the shape of Mickey Mouse. Attached to the side of the swallow pool is a small yellow twisting slide for kids. Surrounding the kid pool are lounges for parents to sit. There is even a small step around the border of the pool if you wish to stick your feet in the water while watching the kids splash and play.

Goofy’s Pool

The family-friendly pool is 4-foot-deep and has Goofy’s portrait at the bottom. There are two whirlpools nearby if you would rather relax and warm up. Since this pool is a little deeper and large it is perfect for all ages and for the parents that want to swim with their kids.

Quiet Cove Pool

The adults-only pool is separated at the far end of the deck, away from all the noise. To enter this area you must be 18-years-old or older. This pool is also only 4-foot-deep and perfect for some relaxation while the kids are playing at the youth clubs.

Dining Options

On most cruise lines you eat at the same restaurant each night, although are offered a different menu. On the Disney Cruise Line you not only are provided new menu options but you get a whole new experience. You route between different restaurants each night and each restaurant has its own theme. Your family’s atmosphere will be unique each evening. The best part is your wait staff moves between restaurants with you. This gives them a chance to really get to know your family and bond with your children. They play games at the table and even do little magic tricks for the kids.

Animator’s Palate

This restaurant brings a show to life with the colors of an animator’s palate twinkling around you. The restaurant is decorated in black and white Disney drawings with paint brushes standing throughout the room. Every few minutes the room comes to life and the paintings begin to show colors. Even the dishes and table settings are part of the theme. This restaurant is the most lively for kids.

Parrot Cay

Ready for a relaxed tropical style dinner? Parrot Cay is the place for you. Serving Caribbean island grill house specialties will remind you that you are out at sea. The brightly colored decor with palm trees and parrots is perfect after a long day at the beach. Family of all ages and all dining attire will feel comfortable here.

Triton’s

Have a Little Mermaid fan in your family? King Triton’s restaurant is the more elegant of the three. Here you will be served contemporary American fare during breakfast or lunch and a French cuisine for dinner. The wall has a beautiful mural displaying King Triton that is perfect for photos.
