There is something special about traveling during the holidays. Some of my favorite memories are anchored in a trip that brought out my inner Christmas spirit. Universal Orlando Holiday Celebrations will unleash the magic of Christmas in your heart with experiences like the Macy’s Holiday Parade and the Manneheim Steamroller concert.
My adventure to witness the spectacle of the holiday celebrations that Universal has created was amazing. The first stop was a gorgeous rendition of ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’ that was incredibly detailed without being overwhelming. The perfectly balanced show had just the right amount of charm, warmth, and humor to make a unique experience without compromising the classic and long-loved tale. Macy’s Holiday Parade at Universal Orlando
Next our group of wide-eyed wanderers were lucky enough to meet John Piper, the Vice President of Macy’s Parade Studio and Amy Kule – Executive Director of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Tucked away behind the scenes of Universal Studios, a large building housed the balloons that would glide down the parade route and create such awe. Piper and Kule spoke with such passion about the parade, the creation of the balloonicles, and the entire process of bringing their ideas to life, it was inspiring. Their dedication shows in the result. When speaking with John, he noted that this version of the parade is unique and tailored to fit Universal Orlando for a truly exclusive feel.
Tom Turkey, a balloon + vehicle = balloonicle, leads Macy’s Holiday parade Universal. Another treat created for the unique version of the beloved parade includes a string of blinking lights! They will be stunning against the night sky of warm Florida evenings during the late parade times. Make sure you catch this must-experience holiday event now through January 2.
TIP: The prime location to watch the parade is near the Macy’s building where the giant tree is located. Santa makes a special stop there to light the tree at the end of the parade. After Santa works his magic, the Rockettes close the show with some amazing dancing and then stay in the area for photo opportunities.
I had never had the pleasure of witnessing the splendor of a Mannheim Steamroller concert. So when I discovered the experience would be available at Universal Orlando – I was giddy with anticipation. The orchestra provides a sound that will reverberate in your chest and please everyone from the young to the young at heart. The concert lasted nearly an hour and delights with live music and visual effects. The “Kiss Goodnight” also brings the cast of the How the Grinch Stole Christmas Grinchmas show out for the finale. It’s perfect for those who missed the show or enjoyed it so much they want more Grinch. You can catch this amazing performance December 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, and 20 on Music Plaza Stage. It’s a unique and fun way to enjoy the holiday at Universal Studios Orlando, Florida.
