6 Tips For Changing Diapers On A Plane

Traveling with your children can often be a difficult feat. One of the hardest things about going away with small kids is looking after their hygiene. After all, when you have a baby, you never know when you may need to change their diaper. When they’ve gotta go, they’ve gotta go.

So, it doesn’t matter how short or long the flight is, you have to make sure that you’re 100% prepared for what happens. What that means is that you need to think ahead and get all you need before you travel. If you’re worried about changing your baby on the plane, here are some tips that will help.

  1. Take a changing pad and bag

You will need a way to dispose of any mess so taking both a travel changing pad and a plastic bag is the best way forward. So long as you are prepared with these things, you should have no problem whatsoever. You can pick up changing pads from most high street baby stores.

  1. Ask about the facilities

The moment you get on the plane, it’s time to start asking some questions. Talk to the air hostesses and ask them about the baby changing facilities. Often enough, one of the toilets will have a changing station in it. If that’s not the case, though, you need to find the largest cabin to change your child in.

  1. Choose the right baby clothes

You want the whole changing routine to be as quick and easy as possible. That means you need to choose the right clothes for your child to wear. Don’t go for anything that has to go over your baby’s head. It will cause too much hassle. Instead, opt for something that buttons up for easy access.

  1. Bring a small baby toy

Of course, you will want to distract your baby when it comes down to it. Having a small baby’s toy that your child can play with will mean that you can keep them entertained as you get the job done.

  1. Ask for help if you need it

Never underestimate the kindness of the people around you. People tend to be very lenient when they see a mother trying to care for her baby. If you happen to have a problem or need help, go ahead and ask for it.

  1. Don’t forget the baby wipes!

Finally, here’s the most important tip. You will need to have baby wipes with you when you’re on the plane. Forgetting them could be a major disaster! Don’t make this mistake!

Great tips! I haven’t had to change a diaper on a plane yet, but I know how hard it is just trying to change one in the bathroom at a store. It seems like a nightmare in a plane bathroom. Good call on brining a toy. Definitely need a good distraction.

The baby wipes have got to be the most essential thing. We try to carry some everywhere in case of any emergency, even though we don’t have one in diapers anymore.
