Review: Buddakan Restaurant NYC “Great Food”

buddakan-nyc

December 8th, 2012 myself, Robyn and Ava, Robyn’s 16-month-old daughter had dinner at Buddakan Restuaurant in the Meatpacking District of New York City.  The earliest reservation we could get was 8:30PM and we were concerned it might be too late for Ava.

When we got to the restaurant it was noisy but when the staff saw we had a toddler they sat us quickly and got us a highchair for Ava.  We started with a cocktail each, we both had a Charm which is made with passion fruit liquor, berries and apples.  Robyn liked it a lot, I found it too sugary sweet.  If you like sugary drinks this is for you.

Our server was lovely and friendly and actually all the restaurant staff was excellent and professional.  For appetizers we ordered: the chili rock shrimp and the Szechuan pork dumplings.  The dumplings were good, but I  highly recommend the chili rock shrimp, they are excellent and not to be missed.

For our main meal we had: Black Pepper Beef; Cantonese Lobster; Wild Mushroom Chow Fun and the Lobster Fried Rice.  The Black Pepper Beef was excellent, the beef tender and just the perfect amount of spices.  The Lobster Fried rice was incredible and we could have easily had another order.  The mushrooms did not disappoint.  The only disappointment for me was the Cantonese Lobster, I found it boring and not extremely tasty

We ended the meal with dessert, we tried the Crying Chocolate.  An exceptional dessert and if you have room left you have to try it.

RECOMMENDATION: We truly loved this place and we will come back. The food is amazing, the staff outstanding and you’ll definitely be wanting more.  Reservations are required – check out the website HERE!
