Travelling To Singapore: Be Prepared To Eat A LOT of Food

Singapore is often known as the hub of international travel. Singapore Airlines being one of the best airlines in the world, chances are that even if you don’t spend time in Singapore, you’ll at least travel through Singapore once in your lifetime. And I’m here to convince you to actually spend time in Singapore when you do.

First of all, the city’s a modern day metropolis. It’s got the culture of Asia with the aesthetic of the US. The infrastructure is very well maintained, including the train system. And you know what’s awesome? It is hands down the safest city I have ever been to in my entire life – and I travel to a LOT of cities. We walked around the city at 2 AM in the morning, just a bunch of girls, and we felt so safe. It’s not even like there’s police everywhere – but Singapore has such strict laws on things like spitting and littering that actual crime is practically nonexistent. We saw a guy get pulled over because he spat on the side of the road at 2 AM at night. Crazy, right?

Anyway, even without that aspect, Singapore’s an amazing city to visit. There’s plenty of tourist spots, but the real attraction is the good. Ohmygod, the food. Seriously, don’t go to Singapore if you’re on a diet. I stayed there a week, and I gained five pounds. It’s insane. One of the best restaurants that I would recommend is called the Banana Leaf – a mix of Indian and Asian cuisine, it’s all serves on an actual banana leaf. And it is amazingggg.

There’s also plenty of interesting clubs and bars. One of the more frequented clubs where most of the foreigners always seem to end up at was The Ministry of Sound, which is a branch of the MOS clubs across the world. It’s fun and vibrant, but that could be said for any club or bar in Singapore.

Overall, the city has a very relaxed vibe. Little crime, a lot of shopping opportunities, and a great place for foodies. The only thing that I would say it’s lacking in is historical landmarks or the typical ‘touristy’ spots that you’ll get in places like Rome or Madrid. But it’s worth the trip for everything else.
