If your vacation isn’t complete without having the scare of a lifetime, we’ve got some frightfully good tips for you. And no, we’re not talking about lost luggage or scary cab drivers. What we’ve rounded up is a list of some of the world’s most adrenaline-inducing attractions. Read on, if you dare!
COILING DRAGON CLIFF SKYWALK, ZHANGJIAJIE, CHINA
Located in China’s Hunan province, this glass-bottomed walkway is attached to Tianmen Mountain: a mere 4,700 feet above the Earth! The walkway is approximately five feet wide and over 300 feet long; vertigo anyone?
GRAND CANYON SKYWALK, ARIZONA
Using the same fright-inducing concept as the The Coiling Dragon Cliff Skywalk, this glass-bottomed corridor extends out over Arizona’s seemingly endless The Coiling Dragon Cliff Skywalk. You’ll find yourself roughly 720 feet above the canyon floor, with the limitless expanse teasing all five of your senses.
CN TOWER EDGEWALK, TORONTO, CANADA
How would you like to travel to the top of Toronto’s tallest attraction and lean over for a selfie, almost 1,200 feet above the ground? Did we mention that visitors are wearing safety harnesses before they extend themselves? Whew!
SKY TOWER, AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND
If one adrenaline rush just isn’t enough for you, consider a visit to New Zealand’s monumental Sky Tower. One minute you’re at 1,076 feet above ground admiring the majestic views of Auckland, the next you’re screaming your head off as you plummet down to earth attached only to a single, slender bungee cord!
BLOUKRANS BRIDGE BUNGEE JUMPING, SOUTH AFRICA
If you’re a bungee jumping fanatic, why not add Bloukrans Bridge in South Africa to your jump resume? At 708 feet it’s the world’s highest commercial bungee jumping attraction. On your way down, you’ll have a bird’s eye view of the spectacular Bloukrans River below.
BURJ KHALIFA OBSERVATION DECK, DUBAI, UAE
If you’re looking to reach the top of the tallest observation deck in the world, you need to travel to Dubai. It’s there that you’ll reach your destination inside the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, a whopping 1,820 feet above ground. As an added bonus, the tower also boasts the world’s highest restaurant, aptly named At.mosphere.
TROLLTUNGA CLIFF, HORDALAND COUNTY, NORWAY
Spoiler alert: unlike the above attractions, there are no safety mechanisms to keep visitors protected from nature’s elements at Norwegian Trolltunga Cliff. That’s right, this is perhaps the world’s most dangerous, natural, tourist attraction! Each year countless individuals venture out onto the elongated, pointy rock formation to take in the exhilarating views of the lake and surrounding cliffs. But be forewarned, there are no railings and numerous people have accidently tumbled off the cliff.
