Viking Cruises Honored With 2019 Cruise Critic Editor’s Picks Awards

For seasoned travelers, they know that reputation means everything, especially when it comes to the destination, the hotel, the airline and needless to say, the right kind of cruise to take. With that said, it shouldn’t come to anyone’s surprise – and especially not to avid cruise travelers – that Viking has once again been honored with a prestigious award.

According to new reports, Viking Cruises has one more reason to celebrate this holiday season as they have been honored with the 2019 Cruise Critic Editor’s Picks Awards. This marks the third consecutive year Viking has won more Editors’ Picks awards than any other river or ocean cruise line.

A press release from the company states that three of the awards that they won are in the prestigious luxury ocean categories. This includes Best Luxury Value for Money and Best Spa, which Viking has one every year since the company made its debut back in 2015. If that weren’t enough, the company also won Best Enrichment, Best Itineraries and Best for First-Timers. Clearly, the critics have spoken and when it comes to Viking Cruises, they absolutely love what they see.

“We are honored to be recognized by the editors of Cruise Critic for our leadership,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking. “I want to thank Cruise Critic’s editors, who are true industry experts that continue to appreciate ‘The Viking Difference’ we offer with our travel experiences. I would also like to thank our guests for their continued enthusiasm and participation in the Cruise Critic community.”

Viking Cruises has been designed for the traveler who has an interest in history, art, music, and cuisine. What makes the company so unique is that their ships are small enough to get their guests closer to their destinations with more of an intimate feel. They also give more time at each port and more overnights. And just to think, they’ve only been doing this for a short time now and are already ahead of the pack.

Some of the highlights from their awards include the following:

  • Best Value for Money Luxury Ocean: “A cruise on a Viking ship means rarely having to reach for your wallet once onboard. With included perks like specialty dining and shore excursions, it’s easy to feel spoiled. Viking’s no nickel-and-diming policy means passengers know what they’re paying upfront and appreciate the value of a cruise that includes excellent dining, large staterooms, and friendly, intuitive service.”
  • Best Spa – Luxury Ocean: “It doesn’t get any better than Viking’s sublime LivNordic Spa. The highlight of any Viking cruise is the wonderful thermal suite, which is tranquil, gorgeous and absolutely free. Packed with amenities like a thalassotherapy pool, snow grotto, and heated ceramic lounge chairs, the thermal suite is the best place to spend a sea day. Viking has redefined the cruise ship spa experience.”
  • Best Enrichment – Luxury Ocean: “Not surprising for a cruise line that partners with PBS, Viking takes enrichment seriously. Each ocean ship has a resident historian, who gives entertaining and informative destination-based lectures and leads Q&As about regional current events. New-this-year Viking Jupiter and Viking Orion also have onboard planetariums, technologically powerful enough for 3D shows, and resident astronomers to make sense of what you’ve seen.”

A lot of travelers love Viking for their clean, sophisticated and Scandinavian-inspired décor. Even though there are always available American classics on board, guests can also dine at each one of their destinations.

In addition, there’s also a true focus on cultural immersion experiences both onboard and onshore as well. There are Viking Chef-hosted trips to local farmer’s markets, tea at home with local residents and visits with local families and schoolchildren to give you a one-of-a-kind and unforgettable cruise.
