The Jungle Cruise is one of Disney’s most classic rides and we have news about some of the changes that travelers can expect.
The Jungle Cruise has a new storyline reportedly to make sure that all guests feel welcomed via the ride. According to Disney they want the ride to be, “respectful of the diverse world we live in.”
Disney Imagineering Creative Portfolio Executive Chris Beatty said, “This is not a re-envisioning of the entire attraction. It’s the Jungle Cruise you know and love, with the skippers still leading the way…” He also said that the depiction of “natives” in the attraction would be changed.

One of the changes is the classic Trader Sam scene. Trader Sam is no longer a shrunken head hunter. He is now a gift shop proprietor.
Beatty said in his interview that Disney is also ensuring that proper changes are made with the animals. “It’s done in a way that celebrates diverse backgrounds and interests —that’s part of the rich storytelling, not something you poke fun at it.”
Disney’s re-tooling includes a new character called Alberta Falls. She is the granddaughter of Dr. Albert Falls, the former owner of the Jungle Navigation Company Ltd. Alberta inherited the company and is an intrepid adventurer as well as a woman of color.
