Travel news reveals that there is more good news from the travel industry this week. Royal Caribbean is the latest cruise line to announce a positive development in summer travel plans.
Royal Caribbean has just announced that they will return to cruising in US waters starting July 2. At the same time the company issued another significant statement in regard to coronavirus protocols. Keep reading to find out more about Royal Caribbean’s latest reopening plans.
Royal Caribbean Will Sail in 2021 Cruises From Florida
The company made their announcement on Friday. According to them, passengers will not be required to be vaccinated in order to cruise with them. The cruise company previously said it would require vaccinations but as of now it is recommending them which is a major change for travelers who are unvaccinated.
At the same time the line also previewed its summer lineup which consists of eight cruise ships.
Royal Caribbean Will Not Require Passengers To Be Vaccinated
To be clear, the company is saying that those not vaccinated or unable to verify vaccination will be required to undergo testing and other protocols, which will be detailed later. Still, this is a major switch-up to the previous mandate for all passengers to be vaccinated prior to travel.
In the same announcement the line stated that all of its crew members will be vaccinated.
The statement comes after Florida Governor DeSantis passed a law that fines companies who do not ask for proof of vaccination.
Florida Health officials have said corona infections and mortality data on its website will no longer be updated daily with the state Department of Health citing, “decreasing cases amid an increasing number of people being vaccinated for halting the daily reports.”
Royal Caribbean Sets 2021 Cruises In Florida
As of Friday, the dashboard reported 2.3 million COVID cases in Florida since the outbreak began more than a year ago, with nearly 37,000 Floridians dead of the infection. At the same time DeSantis signed 24 bills into law late Friday.
According to the Miami Herald, weekly website data will be focused on vaccinations. Florida Department of Health Communications Director Weesam Khoury told the Miami Herald, ““More than 10.3 million Floridians have been vaccinated — accounting for more than half of Florida’s eligible population. Eighty-five percent of Florida’s seniors are vaccinated. Florida’s case positivity has been below 5% for more than three weeks. Cases in seniors ages 65 and older are the lowest since early in the pandemic,”
