Viking will welcome a new Viking Longship®, purpose-built for the Seine River, in 2025. The brand new vessel will carry guests on the company’s popular eight-day Paris and the Heart of Normandy itinerary and has its own exclusive docking location at Port de Grenelle.
The 2025 addition joins a fleet of four Viking Longships, each of which were officially named in 2022: Viking Fjorgyn®, Viking Kari®, Viking Radgrid® and Viking Skaga®. Guests aboard these exciting ships will enjoy magnificent views of the Seine River and will be just a short walk away from the legendary Eiffel Tower.
Viking Announces New Long Ship
Torstein Hagen is the Chairman of Viking and he explained, “France continues to be among the most popular destinations for our guests, and we are pleased to expand our fleet on the Seine River to meet that demand.”
He added, “With our exclusive docking location at Port de Grenelle, even more guests will soon be able to explore the ‘City of Light’ in the Viking way.”
Viking Announces Exciting New Longship
The new ship is set to sail roundtrip from Paris on Viking’s Paris & the Heart of Normandy itinerary. Guests on board will have the opportunity to explore Giverny and retrace the footsteps of Claude Monet within the beautiful gardens and charming farmhouse where the legendary painted lived and worked.
Guests will also be able to follow the path of martyr Joan of Arc in Rouen. In addition, Viking guests aboard the new longship will be given the chance to stroll along the sacred grounds at Normandy’s American Military Cemetery and World War II beaches.
On top of all these opportunities, guests will be treated to the exceptional cuisine of Normandy. Overall the exciting eight-day voyage along the Seine River is a grand celebration of the country’s art, history, food, as well as traditional customs, in the most stunning of urban and bucolic settings.
Seine River Guests Will Be Close to Eiffel Tower
All of the Viking Longships cruising along the Seine River offer a marvelous voyage full of the amazing amenities that Viking is known for. On board there are 84 staterooms which can accommodate 168 guests. Each ship features an Aquavit Terrace and a plethora of stateroom choices, all deigned with Viking’s signature Scandinavian decor aesthetic.
Additionally, all ships feature a hybrid propulsion system with batteries, while also being equipped for shore power in order to decrease reliance on fuel while docked. As an added bonus, onboard solar panels further boost the ships’ energy efficiency.
