Day One of the 2015 Ford NAIAS Digital Summit – Details, Photos and More! #FordNAIAS

It was a cold morning leaving in Montreal. I am incredibly excited to be heading to the International Car Show and the 2015 Ford NAIAS Digital Summit!

We took plane to Detroit – an approx 2 hr flight from Montreal…The excitement to be a part of such and amazing and interesting event made for a long flight. When we landed, we were greeted by a representative from Ford, who directed us to our luggage carousel and gave us instructions how to get to the hotel, which was conveniently located at the airport.

A short elevator ride and a five minute walk to the hotel, and we were directed to a room where Ford reps were waiting with our welcome envelopes, name tags, room keys and a nifty Ford goody kit with some essential supplies like tissue, lip balm, hand sanitizer, and vitamin C to keep us healthy for our trip. It was incredibly thoughtful!

We headed to room, but quickly went downstairs to grab lunch. We did not know anyone who sat at our table. However, we met Marc Smith, who has a wonderful blog where he write about 30 day adventures he goes on. Check out www.30dayaventues.ca and make sure to look up Tina Casey, an amazing writer for Clean Technica.

After lunch, we headed upstairs to relax until dinner. The Sunday meal was the “Digital Influencer Dinner” held at the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant. A small crew of buses picked us up at hotel and shuttled us to the location.

Sheryl Connelly, Ford Futurist, and Dean Weber, Manager of North American Archives, spoke about lessons from the past to future innovations while waiters served wine, and hor d’oerves were passed around. At the event, I met fellow Canadians, Zack Bussey, a pod casting expert, and Vernon Chang of Movernie.

Later in the evening, we headed upstairs for dinner and were surrounded by some classic Ford cars show in the photos. The food was delicious – especially the cinnamon friend donuts with ice-cream, caramel topping, toffee and raspberry couli. YUM!

Before you could say Ford Mustang, we were back on the shuttles and headed back to the Westin.

We have an early start tomorrow don’t forget to follow our coverage of all the happens at NAIAS 2015 each day here on Tourist Meets Traveler and at our Instagram and Twitter.
