Viking Cruises Launches New Expedition Trips To Antarctica And The Great Lakes Of North America

Pack your hats, your gloves, and your favorite Patagonia vest because Viking Cruises now wants to take you to places that many people haven’t been too before. The company will now be giving guests on small-ship expedition cruises a close-up view of Antarctica and the Arctic Circle. Within the last eight years, the company has introduced more than 60 new river cruise ships and six ocean cruise ships to become the largest small ship cruise line in the world. Here’s what you need to know.

Viking Will Now Be Giving Guests A Close-Up View Of Antarctica And The Arctic Circle

According to a new press release, Viking Expeditions will set sail in January 2022 with its first vessel, Viking Octantis. The ship will embark on voyages to Antarctica and North America’s Great Lakes. A second expedition vessel, Viking Polaris, will debut in August 2022 and will sail to Antarctica and the Arctic.

Designed by the same experienced nautical architects and engineers as Viking’s ocean ships, the ships are purpose-built for expeditions—small enough to navigate remote polar regions and the St. Lawrence River, while large enough to provide superior handling and stability in the roughest seas.

Many couples – and especially seasonal travelers – want the same amenities, comfort, and perks that you would receive at home or at a hotel while cruising the rivers and oceans of the world. Travelers will agree that Viking Cruises is also at the top of the league when you look at their long list of itineraries and destinations, along with their excursion offers and activities and their value.

Viking Will Usher In A New Era Of Comfortable Exploration In The Heart Of North America

“Our guests are curious explorers,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman of Viking, at a launch event held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. “Now, in creating ‘the thinking person’s expedition,’ we are perfecting polar expedition cruising, and we will usher in a new era of comfortable exploration in the heart of North America.”

Viking has also dropped the word “cruise” from its official name. In addition, Viking has also activated the URL viking.com, which include links to all three product lines.

During a Q&A session with the press, Hagen further explained: “We have one brand, so everybody really knows what they’re getting when they’re getting a Viking product. I think that’s comfortable. From the get-go we said we’re about exploring the world in comfort. So ‘exploring’ has been part of our tagline. It’s a logical step at this time in our career.”

Viking Has Every Reason To Be Proud Of Their Latest Accomplishments

Viking has every reason to be proud of their latest accomplishments. The says its arrival at the Great Lakes will bring the “most modern vessels ever to explore this region while also marking a major commitment to local tourism and economic development” for the states of Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, as well as the Canadian province of Ontario.

Another reason why so many repeat travelers come back to Viking is because of their attention to detail. A lot of travelers love Viking for their clean, sophisticated and Scandinavian-inspired décor. Even though there are always available American classics on board, guests can also dine at each one of their destinations.

The new Viking Venus and her future itineraries almost seem too good to be true. Every cruise fare includes an outside stateroom, a complimentary shore excursion in each port of call, all onboard meals, and all port charges and government taxes. Guests also enjoy many complimentary amenities as part of their fare, including beer and wine with lunch and dinner service.
