CVS Offers Cruises If You Get COVID Vaccine

Travel news reveals that vax hesitant people have one less reason to abstain from getting the coronavirus shot. That’s because CVS Health is throwing lavish prizes at anyone who gets inoculated–including cruises!

The chain announced Thursday that people who plan to receive or have received a Covid-19 vaccine at CVS can enter the “One Step Closer” sweepstakes. Once entered they are eligible to win one of more than 1,000 prizes.

These include a seven-day cruise on Norwegian Cruise Line, VIP tickets to next year’s Super Bowl, a two-night stay at a Wyndham hotel and $5,000 cash prizes for family reunions.

Are You Vax Hesitant?

Dr. Kyu Rhee is the senior vice president of CVS Health (CVS). He said in a press release, “We’re grateful for the millions of people who’ve received one of the well over 17 million doses we’ve administered at CVS Health, but we have a long way to go.”

The sweepstakes which begins June 1 and ends July 10. Its mission is closing the, “gaps in hesitancy” of getting the vaccine. For example, survey from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that 17.6% of adults 18 years and over are hesitant to receive the vaccine.

Will You Enter the CVS Sweepstakes?

To combat vax hesitancy multiple business have offered a multitude of perks, including donuts and beer. The incentives appeal to people who want something in exchange for the shot and of course the freebies could snag the winner over into customer territory for life.

For instance, Unilever gave out free ice cream, Krispy Kreme is giving away a free doughnut every day for the rest of the year and Budweiser is reimbursing beer purchases. What’s not to like?

Some states have also gotten in on the action. Ohio launched a $1 million prize that has boosted its vaccination rate by 45%. New York and Maryland have followed suit by introducing lotteries offering people who get vaccinated a chance to win some cold hard cash money.

Will You Vax for a Prize?

US President Joe Biden wants to meet the goal having at least one dose of the covid vaccine administered to 70% of the nation’s adult population by July 4. This coincides with the target date some health officials have set for a full reopening of society.

As of last week, the CDC reported that 50% of adults have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Will the US meet it’s ambitious goal? A lot could depend on what reward citizens have to look forward to!
