Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Interactive Hotel Opens In 2022 – What We Know!

Star Wars fans can look forward to a true immersive and exciting experience in spring 2022, when the much-anticipated Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser interactive hotel launches into “space.” Located at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, this exciting hotel will be offering a two-day, two-night immersive adventure that is not to be missed.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser interactive hotel

Opening at some time in spring 2022, a two-day, two-night immersive experience will be available at the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser interactive hotel. The adventure is described as “part live immersive theater, part themed environment, part culinary extravaganza, part real-life role-playing game.” The experience will be literally and figuratively connected with the Star Wars universe.

In a video shared on the official Disney Parks Blog the Imagineers talk about some of the aspects of the Starcruiser, without getting too specific and giving away too many spoilers. Wendy Anderson, executive creative director with Disney Live Entertainment, says that while Disney’s theme parks always provide immersive experiences, this one is “much more intimate.”

While Starcruiser was originally announced in 2019, the Imagineers say they have been working on the project for about six years. Scott Trowbridge, portfolio creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering, spoke about the immersive hotel experience.

“It might not be obvious to people how we have been able to weave these stories together. The stories that are going to take place on our Galactic Starcruiser were designed to intersect with the stories of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when both were in development at the same time,” he said.

“It’s not just that Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser and Galaxy’s Edge thread together, but they thread together with the rest of Star Wars storytelling. I’m excited about the ways we’re going to tell those stories not just onboard for the experience but also in all the other mediums in which Star Wars storytelling comes to life.”

What can guests expect?

According to Anderson, the first night aboard the Halcyon (Starcruiser’s official name), includes a dinner show “performed by aliens, folks you would never see on your home planet.” Meanwhile, the food, created by the Disney chefs, reportedly looks appropriately otherworldly.

Meanwhile, the experience will also include character interaction, with guests interacting with the characters as the story unfolds in the various scenarios.

Part of the experience is an excursion to Batuu, the setting for Galaxy’s Edge. Guests’ stories will line up with the plotlines of the existing Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run rides.

Anisha Deshmane, associate producer for WDI, says they are able to show guests things about Galaxy’s Edge and the Black Spire Outpost that they wouldn’t see as a day guest. As part of the stories, there will be unexpected character encounters. However, familiar characters like Rey and Kylo Ren will also be involved.

Anyone that doesn’t want to interact with the experience can sit back, relax and watch the drama unfold, or head to the bar to enjoy an intergalactic cocktail. According to Anderson, you can choose to be as casual about this as you want, or dive in as deeply as you want to. It’s up to you.

Price of the two-day, two-night adventure

A two-day, two-night adventure at the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser interactive hotel doesn’t exactly come cheap. In fact, the cheapest starting rate for two adults in a standard room is $4,809. Rates go up to $5,299 for two adults and one child, and $5,999 for three adults and one child.

As yet, prices for the upgraded Galaxy Class Suite and Grand Captain Suite have yet to be revealed. Prices do include food, but no alcohol, along with entry to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
