Thankfully, companies like Viking Cruises are leading the way for a safer, better tomorrow as they are working non-stop to producer and deliver only the finest luxury cruises out there. As a matter of fact, Viking has just announced that they have taken delivery of their newest ocean ship: Viking Venus. We’ve got all of the details you need to know right here.
The Ceremony Took Place April 15th
According to the company, Viking Venus’ delivery ceremony took place on April 15th when the ship was presented at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Acona, Italy. The ship will make her way to the United Kingdom, where she will be officially named on May 17th by her ceremonial godmother, the esteemed British journalist Anne Diamond.
The Viking Venus is the seventh in a series of identical ships that have been ordered from Fincantieri. For both Viking Cruises and their fans and guests from all over the world, they know that this signals a new beginning and one that will hopefully continue to move past the pandemic, which has shuttered businesses and battered the travel and tourism industry all over the world.
“We are especially proud to welcome our newest ship to the fleet this year. Many of us have stayed close to home for months, so this is an important milestone as we begin to get back out into the world again,” said Viking Chairman Torstein Hagen. “We look forward to celebrating the naming of Viking Venus by her esteemed godmother, Anne Diamond — and to welcoming our U.K. guests back onboard next month.”
The Viking Venus Will Sail With Spring and Summer Departures
The Venus will sail with spring and summer departures for Viking Cruises’ England’s Scenic Shores itinerary. England’s Scenic Shores itinerary will set sail from Portsmouth on May 22, May 22, and June 5 for eight-day sailings and will only be available for UK residents as of press time.
The new ship will accommodate 930 guests. A lot of travelers love Viking for their clean, sophisticated and Scandinavian-inspired décor. Even though there are always available American classics on board, guests can also dine at each one of their destinations.
In addition to the UK cruises, the company will also begin sailing to Bermuda and Iceland beginning in May of 2021. While health and safety is of course the utmost concern for the company, Viking Cruises is also excited to sail again, especially with more and more travelers getting vaccinated on a daily basis. In fact, all of Viking’s new voyages will be made available exclusively for vaccinated guests.
The Bermuda Escape – which sounds like an enticing welcome back cruise – will see the Viking Orion take guests on eight-day roundtrips. The ship will overnight in Hamilton and St. George’s, then will visit King’s Wharf. Fares start at $1,799. Meanwhile, the Viking Sky will operate eight-day Iceland’s Natural Beauty itineraries from the capital of Reykjavik. The ship will visit Isafjördur, Akureyri, Seydisfjördur, Djúpivogur, and Heimaey in the Westman Islands.
By now, everyone knows that when it comes to Viking, service and comfort are key and just two of the reasons why so many guests come back for more Viking adventures year after year. Every cruise fare includes an outside stateroom, a complimentary shore excursion in each port of call, all onboard meals, and all port charges and government taxes.
Guests also enjoy many complimentary amenities as part of their fare, including: beer and wine with lunch and dinner service; alternative restaurant dining; free Wi-Fi; self-service laundry; access to the Thermal Suite in the LivNordic Spa; and 24-hour room service.
