New Cruise Ships Set To Debut in 2024
There are more than a few spectacular new-build ships making their maiden voyages in 2024, from two new record-breaking Royal Caribbean cruise ships to the first-ever river ships sailing Colombia’s Rio Magdalena, cruise along the Nile, have a Disney adventure and more. Read on to find out which cruise ships will enjoy their maiden voyages in 2024.
AmaWaterways – AmaMagdalena, AmaMelodia and AmaLilia
AmaWaterways is making history in 2024 by introducing itineraries to sail the scenic Rio Magdalena in Colombia. Meanwhile, AmaMagdalena will debut in March and the AmaMelodia in June. Both new ships will share the same itineraries, heading to Nueva Venicia, Mompox, Magangue and more. Moreover, they will also visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and destinations along the way.
Meanwhile, the AmaLilia will also debut in 2024 and will be the sister ship to AmaDahlia. Both vessels were purpose-built to sail the Nile River. Moreover, they will offer an 11-night cruise and land experience, that combines a 7-night Nile River Cruise with a 3-night pre-cruise stay and a one-night post-cruise stay in Cairo, Egypt.
American Cruise Line – American Liberty and American Legend
Avalon Waterways – Avalon Alegria
Avalon Waterways’ first entry into the scenic Douro River in Portugal will be Avalon Alegria. Debuting in 2024, the cruise ship’s itinerary will be an 8-day Vida Portugal: Vineyards & Villages, and an optional 3-night pre-cruise extension in Lisbon. The new ship will accommodate 102 guests and features a Sky Deck Pool and all-suite accommodation options.
Cunard Line – Queen Anne
The iconic Cunard Line is set to debut its 249th ship, dubbed the Queen Anne, which debuts on May 3, 2024, in Southampton, England. This sister ship to the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary II and Queen Victoria will debut with the line’s first female caption at the helm. Captain Inger Klein Thorhauge will co-captain with Captain David Hudson.
Offering space for 3,000 passengers in a range of luxurious accommodations, the ship will offer more itineraries in key destinations, including Australia, Alaska and Japan.
Disney Cruise Line – Disney Treasure
“Adventure” is the main theme of Disney Cruise Line’s upcoming member of its Wish Class ships. The Disney Treasure, featuring inspiration from beloved movies like “Aladdin” and “The Lion King,” will debut in December 2024 and will first set sail in the Caribbean. Moreover, the Disney Treasure offers 1,254 guest staterooms, offering a capacity of up to 4,000 guests.
Princess Cruise Line – Sun Princess
Princess Cruise Line’s latest cruise ship is the Sun Princess, which will debut in the Mediterranean in early 2024. Part of the cruise line’s Medallion Class, the ship will run on LNG and will accommodate up to 4,000 guests.
Among the ship’s new features is the Horizons Dining Room, which is a reimagined three-story main dining room experience with different dining options on each level. Moreover, the Sun Princess will offer a technically advanced theater, seating 1,000 guests.
Royal Caribbean – Icon of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas
Meanwhile, the Utopia of the Seas debuts in July 2024, with a choice of short, 3-4-night sailings to the Caribbean from Port Canaveral in Florida. One special feature is an immersive train car-style dining experience which joins the almost 40 food and beverage options on the ship.
Silversea – Silver Ray
Silversea is debuting its latest luxury cruise ship in its Nova class, the Silver Ray, which is set to sail in the summer of 2024. The ship will offer accommodations for up to 728 guests and also offers expansive indoor and outdoor public spaces, along with eight dining options and the new open-air Dusk Bar.
The Silver Ray will debut with a roundtrip sailing from Fusina (Venice) into the Mediterranean Sea. Moreover, it will offer a range of luxurious Mediterranean voyages until November 2024. At that time, it will sail across the Atlantic to Fort Lauderdale to offer Caribbean cruises.
MSC Explore – Explora II
The second in MSC’s luxury line, Explora Journeys, the Explora II will debut in August 2024. Meanwhile, the ship has a capacity for 461 guests and offers 78 connecting suites for group travel. Moreover, the ship will offer nine dining venues, a spa and four pools.
Its maiden journey sets sail from Barcelona to Rome and will cruise the Western Mediterranean until November 2024. At that time, the ship will head to the Caribbean for the winter season.
Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection – Ilma
Using LNG as its main fuel, the ship will offer 7-10-night itineraries in the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas.
Viking Hathor and Viking Vela
The new ship, Viking Hathor is a sister ship to Viking’s two other Nile-specific river ships. Viking Aton and Viking Osiris. The cruise ship will offer accommodations for 82 guests when it debuts next year.
Meanwhile, the Viking Vela debuts at the end of 2024 and is expected to sail the Mediterranean and Northern Europe. The ocean-going vessel will offer space for 998 passengers.
