Fast Food International Style – 5 Crazy Creations

Have you noticed a new addition in content offerings we are serving up here at Tourist Meets Traveler? We now offer a Food and Recipes section that will explore foreign fare and unique delicious delicacies from around the world!

To kick off the latest feature, we are going to explore fast food…international style. You could probably walk to the nearest McDonalds or Starbucks and order up a burger or latte, but fast food across the world offers a range of crazy concoctions that cater to local ingredients and the American ingenuity for excess.

Pizza Hut Japan – Black Ninja Burger

Last October Pizza Hut patrons could order up this burger comprised of a giant slice of flame-grilled bacon that they call “King’s Bacon” with onions, lettuce, mayo, a hash brown and a “dark brown Chaliapin” sauce. It was all sandwiched between two black buns that represent the black hood of a ninja. It sold around the 680 yen ($6.91 US) price range.

Lotteria – Chocolate and Honey Mustard Chicken Sandwich

How does chicken thigh filet topped with lettuce, honey mustard and chocolate sauce sound? The chicken is cooked with white wine, garlic, and onions and baked slowly. I love chocolate and I will dip fries in honey mustard, but the combo sounds like it would fight with the strong flavors.

Krispy Kreme UK – Mince Pie Donut

I have a passion for donuts. They are my guilty pleasure and I was fortunate enough to get a good exposure to an array of these breakfast staples in Chicago. Click HERE to read up on Maple Bacon Donut adventure… If you are truly an adventurer, maybe the Mince Pie Donut would be up your alley. The yeast donut with a fruity mince pie filling was decorated with white icing, a red drizzled tree and dusting of gold is a take on the United Kingdom’s popular Christmas Mincemeat Pie.

Pizza Hut Singapore – Double Decker Pizza

I will the description do the talking here. The holiday special offered offered two pizzas which stacked on top of each other and meant to be eaten that way. The bottom pizza had a cheese stuffed crust that was topped with chicken pepperoni and bell peppers. The smaller pizza plonked on top of it was packed with rolls of turkey ham, Edam cheese, tomatoes, zucchini, and mango mayonnaise.

KFC Japan – Corn Potage Fritter

It sounds like something you’d find a Southern fair, but you can get this concoction at KFC in Japan. Basically, it is a deep-fried soup fritter. The crust on the outside was a hard shell and the inside was comparable to a sweet bean paste.

KFC Philippines – Crispy Butter Chicken

Paula Deen fans will get this one. It may not be unique, but I couldn’t resist including it. The Philippines branch offers fried chicken that’s been marinated in butter and breaded with butter. It is served with buttered rice, mashed potatoes topped with corn and gravy plus a drink for 99 pesos ($2.30 US).
