Updates At Walt Disney World, Disney’s Hollywood Studios And Universal

Currently, browsing travel news brings stories about travel restrictions due to the new, highly contagious Omicron variant. However, when it comes to Walt Disney World and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, exciting updates are available to keep fans happy. Read on to find out the latest.

  1. Early entry for resort guests extended

Disney had announced that, from December 19, 2021, the parks will extend the Early Theme Park Entry for hotel guests from 30 minutes to 60 minutes daily. This will continue during the busy holiday period through January 3, 2022.

At the same time, as part of the joy of the holiday season, a number of individual Lightning Lane attractions will be added to the Disney Genie+ service during the same period. The attractions are Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, Frozen Ever After and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

  1. Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopens Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular

After being shuttered since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this week the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular returned to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Starting this week, the show features performers enacting iconic scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark as they did before. However, as the show gets underway, it will also feature a special moment to introduce the talented stunt team. The video included below offers a behind-the-scenes look at the cast and crew rehearsing for the fun and exciting show.

  1. Typhoon Lagoon eyeing January 2022 reopening

While Disney has not yet confirmed this, a number of sources are reporting that Typhoon Lagoon is looking at a January 2022 reopening. Again, this will be the first time the attraction has been open since March 2020.

  1. EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival returns

Meanwhile, it has officially been confirmed that the 2022 edition of the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival will be held next year from March 2 through July 4. Also, for the first time since March 2020, it has been confirmed by Disney that it will be bringing back the Garden Rocks Concert Series as part of the festival. However, entertainment acts have not yet been announced.

  1. Enchanting Extras returning in 2022

It looks like 2022 is going to be an exciting year, as DAPS Magic quotes Walt Disney World as announcing that certain tours from its Enchanting Extras Collection will be coming back, including:

  • Caring for Giants
  • Disney’s Keys to the Kingdom
  • Savor the Savanna
  • Up close with Rhinos
  • Wild Africa Trek
  1. Walt Disney World expands Mobile Checkout service

As reported by Theme Park Tourist, Disney is expanding its Mobile Checkout service to more Walt Disney World retail locations this week. The service will now be available at select retail locations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. The Mobile Checkout service allows guests to scan and pay for items using their phones. When their shopping is complete, they can then show the purchase QR code and the selected items to a cast member at the designated exit.

  1. Prime parking rates up at Universal

Admittedly, not all the updates are good news, as the prime parking rates at Universal Orlando Resort will be going up at by $10, meaning it will go up from $50 to $60. However, the standard parking rate remains at $27. It just depends on where you want to park.
