Whether you are heading to the beach or Spain’s fascinating and historic cities, this summer marks the welcome return of some of the world’s best rock festivals.  While last year only a few were held, due to the pandemic, Spain is opening up its music festivals again this year. 1. Primavera Sound, Barcelona, Spain

Dates: June 2-12, 2022

The massive Primavera Sound festival is held in the Parc del Forum in the beautiful city of Barcelona. Meanwhile, it is set to make its return in a truly dramatic fashion. Also to be held in Porto, Los Angeles, and several other locations, this is among the world’s premier festivals. In fact, the music festivals attract concert-goers from around the world.

The 2022 lineup features Beck, Dua Lipa, Gorillaz, Massive Attack, Megan Thee Stallion, Pavement, Phoenix, Tame Impala, The Creator, The National, The Strokes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Meanwhile, next year, a second festival will be held in Madrid.

2. Vida Festival, Vilanova I la Geltru

Dates: June 30, July 1 and 2, camping available.

The annual Vida Festival is held at hosted at Masia d’en Cabanyes, a villa in the Catalan coastal town of Vilanova i la Geltru, in Spain. Meanwhile, the town is close to the resort town of Sitges and only a 35-minute train ride from Barcelona. Moreover, the music festivals boast of being crafted for music connoisseurs.

While the grounds are suitable for 25,000 concert-goers, the organizers have limited attendance to 10,000 for comfort. A more low-key festival as compared with Primavera, it still pulls in some big names. Here you can see stars like Alt-J, Belle & Sebastian, Black Pumas, Cat Power, Destroyer, Soccer Mommy, The Avalanches.

3. Mad Cool Festival music festivals, Madrid

Dates: July 6-10, returning September 10 for a special Sunset edition
Attendance: 135,000

The famous Mad Cool Festival has been held in Madrid, the capital of Spain, since 2016. The event is considered to be the centerpiece of the summer festival circuit in Spain. However, this year it will have multiple editions. Meanwhile, the first runs from July 6-10 with performances by Florence + The Machine, Imagine Dragons and Jack White. Other acts include Kings of Leon, Metallica, Pixies, Stormzy, The Killers and Twenty One Pilots.

Moreover, Mad Cool Festival returns in September for what is called Mad Cool Sunset. This edition will see such major acts as Biffy Clyro, Glass Animals, Kurt Vile & The Violatores, Rage Against the Machine, Run The Jewels and Stereophonics. Both editions are top in the music festival lineup in Spain’s capital and the rest of the country.
