Cross Sky Bridge 721: The World’s Longest Pedestrian Suspension Bridge

This challenge is not for those with a fear of heights! However, if you have nerves of steel and a head for heights you must plan to cross the world’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge. Located in Dolni Morava, Czech Republic, around three hours from Prague, the bridge measures 721 m (2,365 ft).

Sky Bridge 721 is located in Dolni Morava in the Czech Republic, about a three-hour drive from Prague and close to the border with Poland. Taking the challenge to cross the world’s longest suspension bridge will take you from Slaměnka Chalet to the side of Chlum Hill.

Meanwhile, the bridge is supported by six main ropes, along with 60 wind ropes to aid its stability. When at the highest point, you will find yourself 95 m (311 ft) above ground level. From that spot, you will enjoy amazing views over the surrounding Jeseniky Mountains.

Sky Bridge 721 can safely hold up to 500 people at one time, but this isn’t all there is to experience. Once the bridge crossing is complete, you will then head along the 2-km (1.2-mi) Bridge of Time Trail. This trail is an informative addition to the experience, featuring educational panels and an interactive, augmented-reality game.

The new suspension bridge took two years to construct, costing around $8.3 million to build. Moreover, it topples the previous world-record holder. The 516-meter-long (1,693-ft) Arouca Bridge in Portugal is more than 200 m (656 ft) shorter.

What you need to know about Sky Bridge 721

First things first, you can’t just turn up at the bridge and expect to climb on. You must book your tickets for the bridge walk online in advance of your visit. Meanwhile, you should also check the weather ahead of time and watch for wind advisories, as the bridge will close for safety should the wind reach 84 mph.

To access the bridge, the entrance is behind the Slaměnka Mountain Lodge, next to the upper station of the Sněžník chairlift. You can take the chairlift to the entrance. Alternatively, walk or bike the 4-km (2.5-mi) trail from the Wellness Hotel Vista on the slopes to the entrance.

Moreover, you should estimate that completing the Sky Bridge 721 walk, the educational trail and the interactive game will take around 1.5 hours to complete.

Other attractions in the area

While in the same resort as the bridge, make time to experience Sky Walk, a 710-m (2,329-ft) spiral walkway. The walkway offers a number of adrenaline-rush attractions, including a spiral slide and a hanging net.
