Mexico awarded more Blue Flag distinctions in time for summer
While travelers are already looking ahead for their summer vacations in Mexico, the country has attained more Blue Flag distinctions, with 78 beaches, two marinas and 40 sustainable tourism boats holding the coveted distinction.
As reported by the Riviera Maya News, Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marques revealed that the country has been awarded 12 new Blue Flag distinctions for the 2024 to 2025 season, including one more Quintana Roo locations. He also specified that, with just over 15,000 km (9,320 mi) of coastline, Mexico’s beautiful beaches are one of the main attractions for travelers.
According to Torruco Marques, Mexico is the top Blue Flag destination in North America and the 10th worldwide. Meanwhile, the award was designed to bring awareness among residents and tourists about the importance of protecting ecosystems and environmental education practices.
What else does Mexico offer?
Torruco Marques also said that Mexico hosts 35 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and ten cultural expressions designated Intangible Heritage of Humanity. All these wonderful options offer travelers from the United States and around the world plenty of exciting options for their summer vacation.
