How can you catch the train?

To enjoy a ride on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad, you have to first head to Canõn City, which is around a two-hour drive from Denver’s airport, according to Google Maps. Once on board, relax and watch the wonderful views going by and tuck into the dining options on the train.

Guests can enjoy a tasty breakfast, or burgers and fries, with smaller options available for the children. Alternatively, enjoy a glass of good wine while dining on Chicken Marsala or Prime Rib. Moreover, snacks and coffee can be enjoyed at the train’s Happy Endings Caboose Café.

What are the options on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad?

Meanwhile, passengers on the Royal Gorge train can choose whatever seating that suits them. Naturally, Coach is the cheapest and most basic choice. However, for a little more money, guests can travel in Deluxe and First-Class in true comfort.

Moreover, the train offers two different experiences for passengers, including the Vista Dome, an unforgettable experience much like the Rocky Mountaineer. This option offers passengers access to the best views from the domed windows encircling the cabin. Moreover, guests can enjoy the fresh mountain air while taking some incredible photos on the open-air terrace. The Vista Dome offers a full-service bar and locally sourced food in the 403 Grill.

The other option for passengers is the Ride with the Engineer Experience, which allows guests to sit with the train’s engineer who guides them as the train heads through various sites and offers interesting facts about the area.

A couple of novelty packages can also be enjoyed on the train, including the festive Santa Express and the fun Murder Mystery Dinner Train.

How often does the train run?

The Royal Gorge Route Railroad offers around four daily departures, heading from Canõn City to Parkdale and back.  As for pricing, Coach is the cheapest, starting at $89 for morning departures. However, for all the extras, the First-Class Dinner of Lunch options are the best.
