It just got more convenient for American travelers to visit the Algarve. United Airlines is launching new, nonstop flights to this beautiful region.

The Algarve coastline in Portugal [Image by Inna from Pixabay]Located in southern Portugal, the Algarve is among the trendiest summer locations for European travelers due to its barmy weather and affordable prices as compared with Mallorca or the Costa Brava in Spain or France’s Côte d’Azur.
However, it was previously not listed on American travelers’ bucket lists and was also not directly served by US-based carriers. However, this is set to change.
New nonstop flights from Newark to the Algarve
Fly to Faro in the Algarve nonstop with United Airlines [Image by nickyhardinguk from Pixabay]Starting from May 21, 2025, in time for summer, United Airlines will offer its inaugural flight from Newark to Faro, linking New Jersey and New York to the capital of the Algarve and its many charming coastal towns.
While the route was originally set to launch in the spring of 2024, it was delayed until 2025. Americans can book their seats now, as tickets are already being sold through the airline’s website.
Flights to the Algarve will be offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, meaning many sets are still available. Meanwhile, for those travelers on a budget, United’s fares are not as high other other popular European hubs United is travelling to this year.
Traveling with United Airlines to the Algarve, Portugal
United Airlines [Image United on Facebook]As for the fares, one-way tickets start at $596, while travelers can definitely enjoy lower fares by connecting through Lisbon for as little as $380. However, the convenience of a nonstop flight without layovers in Lisbon or Porto, even further to the north, makes it even better.
Meanwhile, United will deploy a 176-seat Boeing 757-200 aircraft for the flights to the Algarve. The aircraft offers 16 luxurious Polaris business pods, 42 Economy Plus seats with extra legroom, and 160 seats in the more restricted Economy class.
Moreover, United’s flights to the Algarve will depart from Newark (EWR) at 9:35 pm, local time, arriving in Faro (FA0) at 9:50 am of the following calendar date.
Return flights are scheduled for 11:40 am Portugal time, arriving in the US at 3 pm on the same day.
