Valentine’s Day is right around the corner – and nothing says Valentine’s Day like chocolate, cards, and of course Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang. We are huge Peanuts fans over here, so nine times out of ten every Valentine’s Day gift that passes through our house is Snoopy or Charlie Brown themed – it’s basically a family tradition.

When February 14th comes around every year, love is in the air, and so is nostalgia – for some reason whenever I think of Valentine’s Day, I think of getting those little cards in school from my classmates with pictures of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the Peanuts gang on them. And of course, the Charlie Brown specials that used to air on television. The original special, Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown, began airing on CBS in 1975. In 2002, they rolled out a new holiday special based on the original called, A Charlie Brown Valentine.  ABC will air the classic “A Charlie Brown Valentine,” FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EST).

Charles Schulz wrote many adorable Charlie Brown comic strips with Valentine’s Day themes. Who could possibly forget about Charlie Brown’s decade long pursuit of the beautiful Little Red-Haired Girl. What a lot of Peanuts fans don’t realize is that the Red-Haired Girl was actually based on Charles Schulz real-life crush, a woman that he worked with named Donna Johnson Wold. Charles and Donna dated for three years – but when he got down on one knee and proposed to the love of his life in 1950 she revealed that she was already engaged to marry someone else.

Or, if you are looking for a gift that is a bit more sentimental – Hallmark is teaming up with Peanuts and has their very own line of Charlie Brown themed holiday cards.
