Viking Receives Six New Elite Awards and Earns Its Third Consecutive Silver Travel Award

Viking is having a banner year, and there has never been a better time for guests to enjoy, as Chairman Thorstein Hagen calls it, “the thinking person’s tour.” Viking earned several prestigious awards this week from U.S. News & World Report, as well as the travel industry group Silver Travel Advisor.

The U.S. News & World Report elite-level travel rankings are based on analysis of expert opinions and traveler reviews, plus insider recommendations from the outlet’s editorial staff.

News & World Report’s 2024 Best Cruise Lines rankings revealed that Viking is rated the Best Luxury Line, Best Line for Couples and Best Line in the Mediterranean in U.S.

The cruise line’s exclusive show, which airs on its enrichment channel Viking.TV (https://viking.tv), was recognized by Silver Travel Awards for its original content, receiving the Silver Standout for Innovation. This is the line’s third consecutive win since

Viking.TV debuted in 2020.

Silver Travel Advisor also voted Viking #1 for Rivers, and #1 for Oceans, in the awards’ Best Premium or Luxury Cruise Line category.

Viking’s Award Winning Season

Torstein Hagen is the Chairman of Viking and he stated “We are honored to be recognized as the best—particularly in the luxury category. As a rule, we do not use ‘luxury’ to describe ourselves, because the word tends to mean something different to everyone. But we are always pleased when industry experts categorize Viking as ‘luxury.’

He added “These prestigious awards showcase our team’s hard work and encourage us to continue delivering the meaningful travel experiences that set us apart. At Viking, we do not try to be all things to all people. We have always created travel experiences for The Thinking Person, and we are pleased that this approach continues to resonate with our guests, as well as those who enjoy exploring from their homes with Viking.TV.”

Viking First in Class Awards

Viking.TV debuted in March 2020 just as international travel ceased due to the Coronavirus pandemic shutdown. The show served as a convenient portal that kept guests connected while they waited out the travel restrictions.

Since its launch Viking.TV has been watched by over four million viewers across 1,000 live sessions featuring original content, Viking cultural partners, and virtual Privileged Access®.

Viking’s Tremendous 2023 Year

Viking’s latest awards announcement comes on the heels of several other milestone achievements in 2023. Last month Viking made history when it was voted #1 for rivers, oceans and expeditions by Condé Nast Traveler in the publication’s 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards. Additionally, Viking was also named number one in Travel + Leisure’s 2023 World’s Best Awards in the category’s rivers, oceans and expeditions. No other travel industry company has simultaneously received these awards from these entities.

In 2023 Viking was also named the Best Luxury River Cruise in Forbes’ 2023 Best Luxury Cruises list, Best Cruise Line by Food & Wine readers in the publication’s debut Global Tastemakers Awards, Best River Cruise line by Women’s Health in its debut Healthy Travel Awards, and Best for Relaxation—Worldwide by Men’s Health in its 2023 Travel Awards.

Additionally Viking once again dominated Cruise Critic’s 2023 Cruisers’ Choice Awards, earning the top spots in six categories including Best Overall Line, Best River Line, and Best Dining for its ocean and expedition voyages.
