Windstar Cruises offers guests a night on Marlon Brando’s private island
Back in the 1960s, Marlon Brando purchased an atoll in French Polynesia and in 1999, he asked his friend, Richard Bailey to help him develop the island into a resort. Fast forward to now, and guests sailing with Windstar Cruises to French Polynesia can add on a one- or two-night stay on Brando’s private island at a luxury resort named The Brando. This is a wonderful option for fans of Brando’s many iconic movies, such as On The Waterfront, The Godfather and Apocalypse Now.
Thanks to the collaboration, guests can book a two-night stay at the private island after enjoying a sailing on board the Star Breeze. Meanwhile, this ship recently replaced Wind Spirit, offering double the former small-ship capacity in the region.
When does the offer start?
After enjoying a voyage around French Polynesia with Windstar Cruises, guests will disembark in Papeete. From there, they will board a small plane to enjoy a 20-minute flight to The Brando. During their stay at the private island resort, guests will enjoy spa treatments, daily excursions, time on the white-sand beaches and more. Following their stay, guests will be flown back to Papeete. As for the price, rates start from $6,900 per person based on double occupancy.
More about Windstar Cruises’ offer
This collaboration not only further enhances our commitment to providing unparalleled luxury and most romantic experiences for our guests in French Polynesia, but also allows us to extend the Windstar experience seamlessly from sea to land, providing our guests with exceptional hospitality throughout their journey.
When Marlon Brando asked Richard Bailey, Chairman of Pacific Beachcomber, to help him develop his private island, the two men drew up plans for a luxurious, but also environmentally friendly resort. Moreover, when Brando passed away in 2004, his family gave Bailey permission to continue the late actor’s vision.
In 2014, The Brando was finally opened to the public. Since that time, the island has been a popular spot for celebrities, including Britney Spears, Leonardo DiCaprio and Barack and Michelle Obama.
