Windstar Cruises is making a wonderful offer to its guests when sailing around French Polynesia, allowing them to add on a stay at Marlon Brando’s private island. Brando was a popular American actor and activist, considered to be one of the greatest and most influential actors of all time. While he passed away in 2004 at the age of 80, his influence continues in the world.

Back in the 1960s, Marlon Brando purchased an atoll in French Polynesia and in 1999, he asked his friend, Richard Bailey to help him develop the island into a resort. Fast forward to now, and guests sailing with Windstar Cruises to French Polynesia can add on a one- or two-night stay on Brando’s private island at a luxury resort named The Brando. This is a wonderful option for fans of Brando’s many iconic movies, such as On The Waterfront, The Godfather and Apocalypse Now.

Windstar Cruises has announced a new offering in partnership with Pacific Beachcomber, a company operating seven hotels in French Polynesia. One of the company’s properties is The Brando, the late actor’s private island eco-resort on the atoll of Tetiaroa. With 35 luxurious private villas, endless white sand beaches and a five-mile-wide lagoon, The Brando is an incredible place to enjoy a stay at the end of a sailing with Windstar Cruises.

Thanks to the collaboration, guests can book a two-night stay at the private island after enjoying a sailing on board the Star Breeze. Meanwhile, this ship recently replaced Wind Spirit, offering double the former small-ship capacity in the region.

When does the offer start?

It is important to note that this offer is not available to every guest, as it is only open to those staying in Star Breeze’s top suites, including the Broadmoor, Sea Island and owner’s suites. Moreover, the luxury add-on only becomes available for booking from May 1, 2024.

After enjoying a voyage around French Polynesia with Windstar Cruises, guests will disembark in Papeete. From there, they will board a small plane to enjoy a 20-minute flight to The Brando. During their stay at the private island resort, guests will enjoy spa treatments, daily excursions, time on the white-sand beaches and more. Following their stay, guests will be flown back to Papeete. As for the price, rates start from $6,900 per person based on double occupancy.

When announcing the exciting news, Christopher Prelog, President of Windstar Cruises said:

This collaboration not only further enhances our commitment to providing unparalleled luxury and most romantic experiences for our guests in French Polynesia, but also allows us to extend the Windstar experience seamlessly from sea to land, providing our guests with exceptional hospitality throughout their journey.

When Marlon Brando asked Richard Bailey, Chairman of Pacific Beachcomber, to help him develop his private island, the two men drew up plans for a luxurious, but also environmentally friendly resort. Moreover, when Brando passed away in 2004, his family gave Bailey permission to continue the late actor’s vision.

In 2014, The Brando was finally opened to the public. Since that time, the island has been a popular spot for celebrities, including Britney Spears, Leonardo DiCaprio and Barack and Michelle Obama.

In February this year, Windstar began offering Pacific Beachcomber’s InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa in Papeete for a pre-or post-cruise stay. Moreover, while sailing with Windstar, guests can also book a one-night stay in an overwater bungalow at Pacific Beachcomber’s Intercontinental Bora Bora le Moana as an optional shore excursion.

“We are delighted to extend a warm invitation to Windstar Cruises’ guests to discover our secluded island havens, including The Brando, an eco-resort unlike any other nestled in the heart of French Polynesia,” Bailey said, adding:

Together, we aim to deeply immerse our guests in the vibrant Polynesian culture and the untouched splendor of our natural surroundings.
