‘Bridgerton’ on Netflix

The series is based on the bestselling books of Julia Quinn and the period drama is set in the early 1800s. Narrated by Dame Julie Andrews, the story follows the Bridgerton family, with their high society lives and romances. After being gripped by the series, viewers might be inspired to visit the filming locations in Bath that star in the series. Read on to find out more.

– Royal Crescent

Royal Crescent is one of the most iconic landmarks in Bath and makes a perfect backdrop for filming. The crescent is made up of 30 Grade 1-listed terraced houses and was constructed between 1767 and 1775. The property curves around a perfect lawn, while overlooking Royal Victoria Park.

– No. 1 Royal Crescent

Staying in Royal Crescent, the exterior of number 1 is used for the home of the Featherington family. Outside of the Netflix series, the building is a museum and is decorated and furnished in the style of the late 1700s. Each room features historic furniture and artifacts that reveal what life was like for the fashionable residents of Bath.

The museum is currently closed, but is due to reopen in April 2021 and is a perfect location to visit for fans of ‘Bridgerton.’

– Abbey Green

Tucked away behind the Roman Baths, you will find the Pickled Greens shop and café. In the series, this stands in for the Modiste – a dress shop that is a key part of the story. Production filmed both inside and outside of the Grade-2 listed building, which boasts traditional double-fronted bay windows. Covent Garden was represented in the Netflix series by another part of Abbey Green.

– Bath Street

Bath Street was used in the first trailer for the Netflix series and also for a variety of street scenes. It boasts cobbled paving and an elegant line of colonnades runs down each side. Cross Baths and Thermae Bath Spa are located at the bottom of Bath Street. Here, water bubbles up from the famous hot springs.

– Assembly Rooms

The ballroom and the Tea Room at the Assembly Rooms became the perfect backdrop for those sumptuous ball scenes. In the series, crowds of people can be seen, dressed in vivacious and glamorous costumes with upswept hairstyles. The Assembly Rooms were originally the social epicenter of Georgian Bath and are still used today for conferences and functions. When not in use, it is possible to visit the grand and elegant rooms. Here the original and grand Whitefriars crystal chandeliers can be seen, as well as the largest 18th-century room in the city.

– Beauford Square and Trim Street

Beauford Square is lined by two-story cottages constructed in 1730 to a design by architect John Strahan. On the south side, the original frontage of the Theatre Royal can be seen. At one stage, there was a communal garden in the center of the square, but now a small rectangular lawn can be seen, enclosed by wrought iron railings. Just around the corner is Trim Street, where the interior of a shop features in the series.

– The Guildhall

A number of ball scenes in the Netflix series were also filmed in the banqueting room at the Guildhall. The elegant Georgian building boasts grand staircases and elegant plasterwork. The banqueting room itself has historic paintings, soaring ceilings and ornate gilding. It is the perfect film set for many scenes in “Bridgerton.”

– Holburne Museum

The Holburne Museum stands in Great Pulteney Street and has an elegant facade and pretty gardens. The Grade 1-listed building was originally constructed as a hotel, but now hosts a collection of decorative and fine art. The exterior of the building was used for filming the entrance to one of the series’ ball scenes.
