Viking Voted The Best Cruise Line In Food & Wine’s Prestigious Inaugural Awards
Viking (www.viking.com) has been enjoying a historic year in 2023 and now the company has another accolade to add to its impressive list of global achievements: Viking has been voted Best Cruise Line by Food & Wine readers in the publication’s inaugural Global Tastemakers Awards.
Food & Wine announced that Viking was number one in the Cruise Line category due to its inventive culinary programs featured on its river, ocean and expedition voyages.
Food & Wine Recognizes Viking
Food & Wine has celebrated the global epicurean experience for 45 years and just revealed the winners of its inaugural Global Tastemakers Awards. With the prestigious awards the publication acknowledges the finest culinary experiences from around the world. The awards are chosen by its readers and other categories include the world’s best restaurants, airlines, hotels, bars, and more.
Viking’s incredible accomplishment will be featured in the July issue of Food & Wine magazine. The magazine will be available on newsstands in June and the results of the awards can be found at www.foodandwine.com/global-tastemakers.

Viking Ships Offer Award Winning Fare
Guests who dine on board a Viking ship are treated to impeccable service amid a casual elegance dining atmosphere. The cruise line offers classic fare from around the world and in addition the featured menus on board are inspired by the destinations. For example, guests on board Viking vessels have the opportunity to sample regional beer and wine at both lunch and dinner.

Guests on Viking’s ocean and expedition ships have several dining options. These include Mamsen’s Norwegian Deli and Manfredi’s Italian trattoria. In addition guests are able to sample the open kitchens of the World Café and have access to multicourse tasting menus at the Chef’s Table.
When aboard Viking’s European river vessels guests may choose between the revolutionary indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace, the main dining room, or The Restaurant.
Guests who travel on the new Viking Mississippi will experience the innovative River Café which features American classics as well as locally inspired specialties. And, on all of its ships Viking offers the most al fresco dining on any waterway, with guests able to enjoy a delicious meal or a glass of wine amid stunning scenery.
Viking’s Culinary Milestone
Viking is in the midst of its 25th anniversary and the announcement from Food & Wine is the latest in a string of most spectacular honors. In March 2023, Viking dominated Cruise Critic’s Cruisers’ Choice Awards, receiving first place in six categories including “Best Overall Line,” “Best River Line,” and “Best Dining” for its ocean and expedition voyages. Viking was also named the #1 Ocean Line and #1 River Line by both Travel + Leisure and Condé Nast Traveler, making it the first line ever to simultaneously earn #1 in its categories from both publications.
Recognizing The Best Culinary Experiences Around The World
Additionally, in January 2023, the company had its most successful single month of bookings on the heels of strong growth.
And, since 2020, Viking has welcomed 16 new ships to its fleet. These include eight new Viking Longships designed to sail the rivers of Europe and new, purpose-built vessels on the Mekong, Nile and Mississippi rivers. They also launched three new, identical ocean ships and two Polar Class expedition vessels.
