During the pandemic, many people worked from home rather than mixing with others in an office. Once the pandemic was over, many chose to continue working from home. Meanwhile, remote workers then began to travel the world, working from wherever they wanted to.

Now, Virgin Voyages has revealed a new promotion, dubbed the Scarlet Summer Season Pass. The cruise line invites remote workers to travel on the cruise line’s newest ship, Scarlet Lady, this summer.

Meanwhile, the pass is for two passengers to enjoy sailing on back-to-back voyages for four weeks between June and September 2024. The pass is inspired by Virgin boss, Richard Branson’s philosophy of combining work and play. On the cruise, the remote workers will visit many beautiful destinations in the Mediterranean. Among the stops along the way, Sailors can visit Civitavecchia, Cannes, Ibiza, Ajaccio and Palma de Mallorca.

During the voyage, Sailors can enjoy yoga or a group spin class, or work comfortably poolside. Along the way, they can take a break from work to explore beautiful ports of call in the Mediterranean. On Virgin Voyages’ website, Branson states:

I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to do my work from anywhere. When I started Virgin, I was actually working out of a houseboat.

I’ve never thought of work and play as two different things, it’s all just living.

We want to give Sailors that same opportunity, so we came up with this idea to have them travel the world while working aboard our beautiful ships. Though this sounds like a lot more fun than my houseboat!

What does the Scarlet Summer Season Pass include?

While enjoying four, back-to-back voyages the season pass includes a Central Sea Terrace cabin for two. Remote workers will have access to a private balcony, with a Virgin Voyages’ signature red hammock.

Ticket prices start at $9,990, which features savings of up to 30 percent as against booking four, independent cruises. Guests will have access to a dedicated concierge, early access to onboard dinner reservations, a free laundry service, a daily coffee credit and entry to Richard’s Rooftop.

Meanwhile, remote workers have access to free, high-speed Wi-Fi on the ship, which was recently upgraded to SES Cruise mPOWERED + Starlink PRO, giving connectivity of up to 1.5 Gbps. The system accesses SES’ medium earth orbit satellites and Starklink’s low earth orbit satellites.

Virgin Voyages’ Chief Executive Officer, Nirmal Saverimuttu said in a statement:

No longer does working from home mean being tied to a desk or home office and eating leftovers for lunch.

With our latest Wi-Fi upgrades, Virgin Voyages can now offer our Sailors the chance to see the world while working from a daybed at The Dock and sampling Mediterranean mezzes, then hopping off the ship in between calls to make the most of our incredible ports of call.
