Meanwhile, the Green Path program’s centerpiece is a certification program, designed to guide users through four sustainability pillars. Moreover, each is tailored to varying aspects of conscious travel.

Among them is The Foodprint, which explores local farms, markets and eco-gastronomic practices. Another is the Legacy Journey, that seeks to preserve the heritage of Puerto Rico through its culture, architecture and stories.

The third pillar, Nature Paths, places the highlights on the island’s biodiversity and its outdoor eco-adventures, while Conscious Stays showcases responsible accommodations and low-impact accommodations options on the island.

More about the pillars of the initiative

The landing page of each pillar features immersive content intended to inform and inspire visitors. Among them is a first-person chronicle which offers a look in on-island experiences. Moreover, it features articles on sustainable travel, cultural insights and local dining and an interactive map clearly marked with descriptions to help its users to navigate Puerto Rico.

Furthermore, the interactive microsite also offers curated itineraries tailored to each pillar and including short-form video interviews with community advocates.

Users of the microsite earn points and insights progress along the way, and once reaching an 80 percent completion score, they will receive a downloadable, shareable badge, which recognizes their status as “Responsible Travelers to Visit Puerto Rico.”

Moreover, gaining this certification further unlocks access to exclusive deals and discounts from local partners in Puerto Rico, offering accommodations and experiences aligned with sustainable tourism practices.
