Costa Rica To Open Borders To Visitors From All US States By November 2020Good news for any American wanting to experience ‘Pura Vida,’ as this Central American country, Costa Rica is opening to all states soon.

Costa Rica has been gradually opening up to visitors over the last few months. The tourism board took care to protect not only the locals of the country but also tourists arriving on its shores. Initially, Costa Rica opened up to residents of certain US states, but now people from all states will be able to visit the country from November.

Americans and Costa Rica

In September and October, Costa Rica started carefully opening up to international visitors and only residents from low-risk US states were able to travel to the country and vacation there. However, this week the Costa Rica tourism board has announced that citizens and residents of all American states will be able to enter starting November 1.

The country is relaxing its border restrictions just as Costa Rica heads into its high season running from November to May 2021. Through this action, Costa Rica aims to generate 80,000 jobs in the country by 2021.

No quarantine on arrival

Having to go through quarantine is one of the major setbacks in various countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. When it comes to Costa Rica, visitors will not be required to quarantine on arrival. However, the country has put enhanced border controls in place and visitors must present a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken at no more than 72 hours prior to arrival.

On arrival in the country, visitors will be asked to complete an online health form and must be covered by travel insurance to cover the costs of accommodation in the case of later quarantine and necessary medical expenses.Costa Rica To Open Borders To Visitors From All US States By November 2020

Costa Rica’s staggered reopening

On August 1, Costa Rica launched a staggered reopening with visitors from countries that have managed to control the spread of the coronavirus getting first priority. At that stage, this included Canada, Japan, New Zealand, and the UK, as well as countries within the EU. Initially, the US was not included on the list of welcomed travelers.

Right now, visitors from Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, and Wyoming are welcome to visit Costa Rica. From October 15, residents from Georgia, Florida, and Texas will also be allowed to visit. From November, visitors from the rest of the country will be welcome to head to the Central American country.

As Costa Rica prepares to open its borders a little wider, the tourism board is hopeful that the growth in tourism will lead to a knock-on effect on other local industries.

Gustavo Segura Sancho, Costa Rica’s minister of tourism, said, “A tourist visiting the country activates a series of productive chains, such as agriculture, fishing, commerce, transport, tourism guides, hotels, restaurants, operators, artisans – and in looking at that, we must focus to continue with the reactivation, safeguarding sanitary measures against COVID-19.”

An affordable paradise

Costa Rica offers affordable accommodation, beautiful, chilled-out beach towns, and a variety of fun adventure activities where visitors can meet other travelers of a similar mind. This eco-friendly environment is ideal for those who enjoy nature and exploring the rain forests, or sun lovers looking for a great beach. Costa Rica is also perfect for anyone who loves scuba diving or snorkeling and discovering the underwater wonders off its shores.

Every effort has been made to reduce Costa Rica’s carbon footprint on the world, with remarkable success. Eco-friendly bed and breakfasts, resorts, and hotels are the ideal way to stay here. The cities are ideal for a foodie adventure, exploring the local cuisine, or visiting the shops for unique souvenirs to take home.
