Oceania Cruises Announces Europe Restart This Summer
The 1,250-passenger ship Marina will begin operations from the capital of Copenhagen. This line is offering cruises to Scandinavia and Western Europe from August 29, 2021 onward.
Its sister brands Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line have also announced restarts. Regent will be in operation in the U.K. in September and Norwegian will operate again from Barcelona and Rome, also in September. Norwegian previously announced its restart in Greece.
A whole host of lines have already announced restarts in Europe beginning this summer. But Oceania is the first line to restart from a country other than the U.K., Greece or Cyprus.
Oceania Cruises Plan a Europe Restart
The news follows the EU announcement that it would be reopen to vaccinated American visitors this summer.
Bob Binder, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Oceania Cruises and he said, “The entire Oceania Cruises team is excited to now shift our focus to safely restarting operations and ultimately welcoming back our guests to begin exploring the world once again.”
“At Oceania Cruises, we value health, well-being and safety above all else. Our guests, our crew, and, of course, the many amazing, dedicated people who work with us in the destinations we travel to are the very lifeblood of our business and we’ll do everything in our power to safeguard their health and safety,” Binder added.
Oceania Cruises Has Made Big Changes
Oceania Cruises has made a number of improvements onboard as part of its OceaniaNEXT improvement project. Included in the renovations are dining and service levels. For now the details are being kept to a minimum but Binder said he would divulge more details on the exciting new changes as the sail date nears.
Additionally, phased restart dates for the rest of the Oceania Cruises fleet will be announced in the next few weeks. Itineraries will also be evaluated for port availability and adjusted as need be as the sailing dates near.
Travel for Americans to most of Europe has been restricted for over a year. Vaccination rates in the U.S. lead much of the world and many cruise lines require vaccines for passengers.
