Capella Singapore has announced the refreshed interiors of their storied Capella Manor and Colonial Manors. Curated by acclaimed design houses Simone Haag and Matthew Shang Design Office, these beautiful interiors have a renewed identity for the modern world traveler.

Nestling on Sentosa Island, Capella Singapore is the flagship property of the iconic Capella Hotels and Resorts. The hotel is delighted to announce the refreshed interiors of its Capella and Colonial Manors. Meanwhile, each manor serves as a private retreat with its bespoke furnishings, curated artwork, and thoughtfully crafted spaces that celebrate intimacy and grandeur.

Each manor is designed as a standalone bungalow and is reminiscent of a private residence. Each also boasts its own design aesthetic and features three en suite bedrooms, separate living, dining and study spaces and a private terrace and pool.

About the redesign of Capella Manor

Capella Manor is located on the fringes of the resort and is enveloped by the lush rainforest of Sentosa Island. It has been artfully redesigned by Melbourne-based interior decorator, Simone Haag. Haag’s refreshment of Capella Manor elevates this contemporary chic residence with a unique sense of character. Moreover, it is enriched by Asian-inspired fabrics, artwork, lighting and contextual styling.

The manor offers 576 square meters of living space and is arranged over two floors with three en suite bedrooms boasting king-size or twin beds. Meanwhile, the manor features spacious living and dining areas and an outdoor terrace with a spacious, private lap pool, surrounded by luxuriant nature.

Over many years, we have established a growing network of artists, makers, antique specialists, vintage traders and designers that spans the globe. Drawing from this treasure trove, we can curate projects unlike anything seen before. Projects that are entirely contextual and highly considerate of the end users’ experience.

At Capella Singapore, an evolving design and procurement methodology has shaped a meticulously layered manor where vintage pieces have been woven with custom contemporary rugs, furniture and commissioned artworks. This invaluable network brings agility, allowing for some beautiful outcomes that contribute to the manor’s ambience and memorability.

The manor boasts a neutral palette, with subtly patterned wallpapers and fabrics, and the tropical foliage mirrors the 30 acres of lush landscaped grounds that host Capella Singapore. A Pelle Lure Lantern in the living room casts leafy shadows across the room, while a custom rug in olive, off-white and rich brown makes for designer comfort.

Throughout the manor, handpicked furniture, sculptural vignettes in pewter, ceramics, rare timbers and glass offer the authenticity of a private guesthouse, including vintage pieces like a pair of 1930s Swedish Carved Monk Chairs and woven Peanut chairs offer a focal point.

About the redesign of the two Colonial Manors

The two Colonial Manors at Capella Singapore have undergone a design refresh by Matthew Shang Design Office (MSDO), that honors their storied historical origins. Their transformation pays homage to their past as British military quarters in the 1880s, and offer a luxurious retreat, steeped in history.

Each Colonial Manor features a 500 square meter interior and is arranged over two floors of an original heritage building. Moreover, each boasts three en suite bedrooms with king-size or twin beds, separate living, dining and study space, beautiful garden views and a private pool.

MSDO drew inspiration from the concept of a traveler’s transient dwelling, which is seen by the blending of maps of old Singapore with timeless furnishings that transcend time and period, bringing the stories gathered from journeys around the world into the manors.

Entering the manor

When entering the manor on the upper floor, guests are met with lush greenery and an eclectic collection of artifacts along the walkway leading to The Nest. This is a cozy living space perched away from the heart of the manor and designed for intimate gatherings and shared moments. Meanwhile, the space has been given a pop of color against the white walls, with a hand-knotted Persian rug, a curation of art pieces and tropical printed cushions.

The manor’s three bedrooms are located on the same level and feature textured headboards on the king-size beds and soft Roman blinds to create a sense of calm. Moreover, the manor’s bathrooms bring modernity to the manor’s historic charm with dark timbre frames and spherical lights.

The living and dining areas downstairs offer tranquility, with the dining room taking center space as the manor’s gathering place. Adjacent to the dining room is The Nook, a cozy alcove boasting cushions and framed by soft curtains, making it a haven for relaxing and unwinding.

The outdoor dining space is surrounded by the lush landscape of Capella Singapore, while the living and dining areas are of enduring tranquility. The dining room takes center stage as the gathering space for the rituals of shared living.

Relax in ‘The Nook’

Adjacent to the dining room is ‘The Nook,’ a cozy alcove adorned with cushions and framed by soft curtains, creating a haven for unwinding. The outdoor dining area, surrounded by the lush landscape of Capella Singapore, and features a barbeque, a dining table seating up to six guests, plush seating and a canopy, framed by a private pool.

The reimagined manors offer a personalized host service by a Manor Culturist. It also offers bespoke turndown amenities, a fridge stocked with champagne, premium wines, refreshments and an in-manor breakfast.

The Manor Culturist offers personalized experiences, from poolside picnics to dedicated babysitting services, or a dim sum master class by the culinary team. Meanwhile, Capella Singapore offers guests private yoga by the pool and the spa’s signature moon-phase treatments, as well as a menu of music and art therapy workshops.
