Viking Given Top Honors in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Cruise Line Rankings
Viking has been named the Best Luxury Line, Best Line for Couples, and Best Line in the Mediterranean by U.S. News & World Report. The ranking was announced in the outlet’s 2025 Best Cruise Line report and it is the fourth consecutive year that Viking has earned these honors.
The U.S. News & World Report travel list is based on in-depth analysis of both expert opinion and traveler reviews. The rankings also reflect recommendations and insider knowledge from the publication’s team of award-winning writers and editors.

Vikings Achievements Recognized By Industry Insiders
Viking’s illustrious achievement is the latest in a series of plaudits for the cruise line. Viking was rated #1 for Rivers, as well as #1 for Oceans and #1 for Expeditions, by Condé Nast Traveler in the 2024 Readers’ Choice Awards for the second consecutive year and was named a “World’s Best” for oceans, rivers and expeditions in Travel + Leisure’s 2024 World’s Best Awards.
Viking stands alone in these accomplishments as no other travel company has simultaneously received the same honors from both publications. Moreover, Viking has achieved these recognitions for two years in a row.
Viking Stands Alone
In addition to the Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure awards, Viking was named Best Adventure Cruise Line by the editors and a panel of experts in the Women’s Health 2024 Travel Awards. Additionally, the cruise line was named Best Expedition Cruise Line,
Worldwide in the Men’s Health 2024 Travel Awards.
Viking’s vast array of awards encompasses the Forbes Travel Guide 2024 Star Awards in which its ocean ships are “Recommended” as part of their annual independent evaluation for luxury travel brands.
Viking was also recognized in 2023 by the Cruise Critic Editors’ Picks Awards. Last year the panel named Viking as tops in the luxury, river and expedition categories. This represents more awards given by the outlet for Viking than for any other cruise line.
Vikings Newest River Ships
Also in November, Viking debuted its newest river ships, the Viking Hathor and the Viking Sobek. They were presented in Luxor, Egypt and the Viking Hathor and the Viking Sobek are identical sister ships to the Viking Aton and the Viking Osiris.
All of these ships are designed specifically to navigate the Nile River on Viking’s popular 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary and were built at Massara shipyard in Cairo.
