Review: Gradisca Restaurant West Village, NYC - Excellent!

We went to Gradisca Restaurant in NYC’s West Village on April 6th, 2013.  The restaurant was filled with old World Charm.  Their specialty is great pastas hand‑rolled up front by the owner’s Mama who is in the restaurant.  Mama is always ready for a photo opt 🙂  Each time we tried to take a photo of her making pasta she would get up and pose for us, she was adorable!  Mama was rolling tiny tortellini the night we went, which I was happy to eat later!

This was my second visit to Gradisca and I thoroughly enjoyed it again.  Not only is the food beyond delicious but the staff is friendly and attentive.    All the waiters are Italian and ours for the evening was handsome and charming, so very Italian.

The restaurant has an extensive wine list and we order a bottle of red Italian wine, a Valle Reale Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.  We both started our meal off with a Caprese Salad (Caprese D’inverno) and it was to die for.  The Buffalo mozzarella was very creamy, the pesto sauce perfect!

We both decided to have the Tortellini and it was the best tortellini I have ever had, as light as air and it melted in our mouths.  Make sure to save room for Tiramisu – Gradisca version of this classic Italian dessert with espresso, Mascarpone cream, cocoa powder.  The Tiramisu is smooth and rich with espresso, and still fluffy.

If you want to have quality authentic homemade Italian food,  Gradisca is the place to go!
