Kids Ski Free: 5 Resorts with Family Perks
Nothing is sweeter to hear than the word free. When you have a large family, the words “kids“ and “free“ are even sweeter!
I am not blessed with much athletic ability. My kids, on the other hand, thrive on sports, dance and gymnastics.
When it comes to hitting the slopes, I like to hold down the lodge with a cup of “adult coco” but I still participate to spend time with my family.
So, to save big and still have fun for everyone, I have found 5 Lodges and Resorts where kids get free perks!
1. Keystone Resort, Colorado – It is one of the larger ski resorts in North America. The establishment offers condo-hotels offering more space with very competitive prices. What makes this place even more superior? All children age 12 and under will ski or ride free, every day, all winter long, even on Christmas and holidays. That’s right! No blackout dates! No hoops to jump through. Simply stay two nights and kids 12 and under ski and ride free.
2. Steamboat Ski Resort, Colorado – This northwest location has Kids Ski Free™ and Grandkids Ski Free programs that enable children 12 years of age and under to ski free the same number of days as their parents/grandparents when parents/grandparents purchase a 5-or-more day Adult lift ticket. Children ages 5 & under always ski free with an accompanying adult. I love that it includes grandparents!
3. Mt. Bachelor, Oregon – Kids 12 and under ski FREE the same number of days as their parents with the purchase of a 3-or-more day adult lift ticket. There is the exception that you are limited to one free kid’s ticket per paid parent. So, if you are outnumbered by kids, they will have to pay. This package works best for families who have children 12 and under and are staying a minimum of 3 days and nights. However, Kids Ski FREE tickets are also available without lodging. Plus, their “Ski or Ride in 5” program was voted the best in the nation for novices.
4. Cataloochee Ski Area, North Carolina – If your kids are a bit older and you still want to score some freebies, Cataloochee Ski Area offers the “Kids Stay Free Kids Ski Free” program. Children 17 and under can STAY OVERNIGHT FREE at a participating Haywood County Accommodations on any non-holiday Sunday through Thursday evening and ski free on any non-holiday Monday-Friday, when accompanied by an adult.
5. Big Sky, Montana – We have mentioned Big Sky before in Easy and Kid Friendly Getaways That Beat Boredom. With the Ski & Stay package, kids 10 and under stay and ski FREE when you book with Big Sky Central Reservations. A complimentary breakfast is also included.
