Disney Hotel Travel Is Getting Back on Track
Disney news reveals that the globe has officially gotten past the one-year mark of the current COVID pandemic. In light of this milestone many are curious to see how travel progresses and especially how things start shaking out at Walt Disney World.
Disney Hotel Travel Is Getting Back on Track
After a March 2020 global shut down the Disney World parks reopened in July. But gone were the bustling crowds, and the magical landscape looked a lot different than it had pre-pandemic.
In other words there were no longer throngs crowding every nook and cranny and along with that emptiness came low wait times. The parks were filled with Orlando residents and Florida locals, but visits from out-of-state tourists were still low.
Today, however, is a different story. Disney World is in the midst of its first pandemic spring break, Disney Park Passes have been wiped clean, and the 35% capacity that each park is allowed is maxed out.
Disney Theme Park Travel is on the Rise
Now that COVID-19 vaccines are available and travel restrictions are slowly being lifted, hotel bookings are on the rise.
According to Morning Consult, “Forty-four percent of adults said they would feel safe booking a stay at a major chain, up 5 points from last week following a drop from late February. Thirty-five percent expressed comfort with staying at boutique hotels, and 32 percent with home-sharing venues such as Airbnbs, both up slightly from last week but still trailing major hotels.”
Accordingly, Disney World is one of the most researched travel destinations in the world. This is likely due to a combination of factors including the majority of the state of Florida being open meaning that visitors have a decent chance of having a “normal” vacation.
Orlando, with its theme parks, dining, and beaches nearby, offers a little something for most everyone, which makes it an especially attractive vacation destination.

All things considered, it seems likely that there will be an increase in visitors who would like to book a hotel in the summer months, which are typically the very high season for Disney World.
On the plus side, Disney hotels offer so many amenities and activities that there is excitement and adventure to be had even for those not yet willing to enter a theme park. Many resorts have expansive grounds perfect for bike rides, pool activities and scavenger hunts, not to mention plenty of food options.
In addition, Disney hotels have had a high safety rate throughout the pandemic in part due to contactless check-ins all the way to remotes being wrapped once sanitized.
