Currently, Hopper lists ticket prices with Delta, Air France or KLM for numbers as low as $685, which is remarkably low for such a long flight. Meanwhile, November in Rome is perfect, with temperatures in the high 50s. However, there are definitely fewer tourists at popular attractions like the Colosseum, The Vatican and the Trevi Fountain.

3. Amsterdam, Netherlands

When it comes to Amsterdam and its famous canals, the best time to fly this year is from November 20 to 30. During that time, a non-stop flight from Washington, DC to Schipol Airport costs less than normal, at just under $750 for a round trip. If you are willing to add a layover to your trip, this will save you around $400. Hopper reports that you are unlikely to find a better price to visit one of Europe’s most popular locations.

The best time to visit Madrid is from November 5 to 15, when a flight out of JFK to Spain’s capital costs only $640 roundtrip. Hopper reckons you won’t get cheaper than this, especially if you book now, as prices are likely to rise by around $300 if you wait until October to book.

Meanwhile, the trees in Madrid start turning a gorgeous shade of gold at the start of November. This means strolling in the city’s iconic Retiro Park is even more beautiful than normal. It is also a good time to take a train to explore Spain, with cooler temperatures and more fall scenes to enjoy.
