Dubbed The Great United States, American Cruise Lines have just announced a new, two-month cruise. Those who have time on their hands can relax on board while visiting 20 US states. Meanwhile, at 61 days sailing, this will be the longest-ever domestic cruise coming in 2024.

Sail to 20 US states in 61 days with American Cruise Lines

American Cruise Lines have announced a major new two-month river and coast cruise, taking passengers through 20 states over a period of 61 days. Meanwhile, the cruise ship will navigate four major rivers and stretches of beautiful coastline before ending the journey at the Statue of Liberty in New York City. Moreover, tickets for the new Great United States cruise are already on sale.

American Cruise Lines has put aside one of its newest ships for this epic journey. Passengers will stay in suites or staterooms, all with private balconies. Moreover, there are several restaurants, cafés and lounges to choose from, as well as a viewing deck to take in the passing scenery.

Where will the cruise go?

The Great United States cruise starts on the west coast and works its way to the east, taking passengers through some of the most amazing areas of the USA. Throughout the cruise, guests will be able to see a number of fascinating national parks, as well as rugged coastlines, soaring mountain ranges and historic harbors. In fact, during the 61-day sail, passengers will pass through all four US time zones.

How is this even possible? Because the cruise will take place on three different ships while differing segments are connected by flights. To be able to carry out such an amazing coast-to-coast journey, American Cruise Lines has broken the itinerary into six different segments, each with its own amazing attributes.

The Great United States itinerary

Days 1-8:

The Great United States cruise starts on the Columbia River in Portland, Oregon, heading to the river’s mouth at the Pacific Ocean before turning back to sail to the east. On this segment of the sailing, passengers will get to see the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Meanwhile, it will end up in Hell’s Canyon at the point where Oregon, Washington and Idaho meet.

Days 9-14:

Passengers will travel on land to have the opportunity to visit some of the most incredible US National Parks. A private guided tour will take them to Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park, ending up in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Days 15-38:

Passengers will take a flight from Jackson, Wyoming to New Orleans, Louisiana where they will board another ship to continue the journey. During this segment of the cruise, guests will cover 1,393 miles of the Mississippi River from New Orleans through to St. Paul, Minnesota. This leg of the journey will pass through an amazing 10 US states.

Days 39-47:

In this next segment, passengers will take another flight to New England, arriving in Portland. Here, passengers will board another ship to explore the gorgeous Maine coast, visiting Bar Harbor and Penobscot Bay. Meanwhile, after spending eight days exploring this region, passengers will arrive in Boston, Massachusetts.

Days 48-54:

During the fifth segment of The Great United States cruise, passengers will enjoy more of the scenic New England coastline, starting in Boston and ending in New York City. Along the way, the ship will pass many well-known locations, such as Plymouth, MA, Cape Cod, New Port RI and Long Island, NY.

Days 55-61:

The final segment of this epic cruise gives passengers a delightful surprise. Leaving New York City, they will sail up the Hudson River to experience some of the best fall foliage in the country during peak foliage season. In Albany, NY, the ship turns around and heads to the iconic Statue of Liberty in New York City.

American Cruise Lines has tickets on sale

The dates are already planned and tickets are already on sale for the inaugural sailing of The Great United States cruise. The cruise will start on August 14, 2024, ending at the Statue of Liberty on October 14, 2024. Tickets can be purchased on American Cruise Line’s website here. Meanwhile, prices vary depending on which statement passengers choose.

The 61-day cruise starts at $51,000 per person and prices can reach up to $77,954 per person. To make a reservation, passengers are required to pay a $5,000 deposit.

According to American Cruise Lines’ website:

Each cruise ticket includes flights and hotels between cruise segments, a pre-cruise hotel stay, daily excursions and entertainment, all meals and drinks, free WiFi, gratuities and port charges, and an assortment of American Cruise Lines merchandise.
