Kennebunkport

What adds even more, charm to the fishing ports, ship captains’ homes, and small shops is the Kennebunk River. This is a vibrant town in Southern Maine that is home to just 3,474 people. This is also considered one of the most popular vacation spots, especially if you plan a visit to The Clam Shack.

Damariscotta

Without a doubt, this is an all-American town that has roots in the shipbuilding industry. It sits on the tidal Damariscotta River and is full of restaurants, shops, and a community theater. You can experience the river by climbing aboard the bright-red River Tripper.

Stonington

This is considered one of the highest-producing lobstering harbors in the state and is home to over 300 boats. This is a “Down East” town that is perched atop the spectacular Deer Isle, which is made up of granite. While it shares its beauty with the thousands of tourists that flock to it each year, it still maintains its charm and small-town feel.

Camden

A town that is self-named the “Jewel of the Coast” is a mid-coast town of just 4,823 residents. It is tucked in a location where the mountains meet the sea. While there are many towns that are great to visit during the summer months, this one offers spectacular views and activities during the winter months, as well.

Blue Hill

This is a cozy and warm Down East community that still maintains the historical architecture of the 18th-century shipbuilding roots. The harbor in Blue Hill is a watery gateway to the well-known Acadia National Park.
