It was recently reported that the Caribbean island of Aruba is promoting “Voluntourism” to encourage travelers to give back when visiting the island. Now, the island is hosting a “Relaxathon.”

These days, everyone is feeling the stress of daily life and work, but Aruba and Olympian Shaun White can offer the perfect antidote. They are teaming up to host a new kind of Summer Games, the Relaxathon, the first relaxation competition in the Caribbean. Travelers are invited to compete for the title of the world’s greatest relaxer, leading one participant to win a free trip.

Currently, some of the world’s greatest athletes are getting ready to head to Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Meanwhile, the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) is joining forces with professional snowboarder, skateboarder and five-time Olympian Shaun White to host the first Caribbean relaxation competition. Travelers from around the world will come together on Aruba’s idyllic and sunny shores to have their ability to relax put to the test. Each will compete for the opportunity to be named the world’s best relaxer.

The Relaxathon will be hosted one of Aruba’s legendary beaches on June 13, 2024, and will be a one-hour relaxation competition. Meanwhile, participants will compete to win on-island experiences by revealing they are the most chilled-out person on that beach, verified by science.

The ATA invites travelers to enter the competition by visiting www.aruba.com/us/relaxathon to share why they need to relax. One lucky competitor will get to win a five-day, four-night trip for two to Aruba to participate in the competition.

Shaun White is a five-time Olympian and three-time Olympic gold medalist. He explained why he is teaming up with Aruba to run the Relaxathon, saying:

I was born and raised near the beach in California. But starting at an early age, I was always on the move with work and never got to kick my feet up and relax there. But now I’m ready to hit the sands of Aruba to host the Relaxathon, a competition like nothing I’ve ever seen.
