Carnival Jubilee introduces its underwater-themed zone ‘Currents’

Carnival launched its newest cruise ship, Carnival Jubilee, in Galveston, Texas in December 2023. However, this didn’t mean that it wasn’t going to add even more exciting options for guests. The cruise ship’s official naming ceremony is to be held on Saturday and ahead of the launch, Carnival shared a video tour of its new “Currents” zone, which spans two decks of the new cruise ship.

Meanwhile, the experience features a 100-foot-long LED ceiling, six large LED portals, lighting, sound effects and music in its promenade. Moreover, among the highlights of the “Currents” zone is “Seaquest: A Fun Sub Adventure.”

What can guests expect from the new ‘Currents’ attraction?

Among the other options of the new “Currents” zone, travelers can toggle between six underwater worlds. Moreover, these include options from Arctic waters with penguins to colorful coral reefs and everything in between.

According to the cruise line, “Each environment changes the entire ambiance of the zone, including the colors guests see and the sounds they’ll hear – all inspired by nature.”

Meanwhile, the educational attraction allows kids to design their own, quirky sea creatures and enjoy watching them swim across the screens. Moreover, a music-activated visualizer brings guests’ favorite music to life.

Of interest to note, “Currents” will also reveal the real-time locations of all of Carnival’s other cruise ships, offering fun and interesting facts about the ocean and geography of those locations while sailing on Carnival Jubilee.

For even more fun, guests dining at Emeril’s Bistro 717, or enjoying a drink at Dr. Inks, PhD can watch various themes playing out on the screens on every night of their cruise. Readers can view a video introduction to the “Currents” attraction here:

‘First-of-its-kind experience’

Speaking of the new attraction, Glenn Aprile, Senior Director of Brand Experience and Product Development for Carnival, said in a statement:

Seaquest is a truly first-of-its-kind experience that brings together the real and fantastical to create an exciting onboard excursion.

As they adventure through the world created for Seaquest, guests will see the Carnival Seacation resort, explore a neon glowing grotto, encounter a giant jellyfish school, navigate among cosmic whale sharks and journey to the kingdom of The Golden Mermaid, which helps tell the story behind one of the unique new venues created for Carnival Jubilee.
