Flights From US To Italy Set To Launch – Quarantine Free
Delta Airlines is putting together a transatlantic program on specific, COVID-19 tested flights and without the need for quarantine.
Delta Air Lines is making plans for a transatlantic program on specific COVID-19 tested flights. This program would eliminate the need for quarantine as travelers head from the US to Italy. This dedicated program is set to start on December 19. The newly-launched flights will travel between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Rome-Fiumicino International Airport.
Fly From The US To Italy
During the trial, passengers and crew will be tested, including all US citizens permitted to travel to Italy for essential reasons. These reasons will include work, education and health. It will also include all European Union and Italian citizens.
Delta Air Lines is working closely with expert advisors from Mayo Clinic, a global leader in complex and serious healthcare. The experts will assess and review the customer-testing protocols necessary to run the COVID-19 tested flight program.
COVID-19 Tests For Flights From Atlantic To Rome
Travelers who wish to fly on Delta Air Line’s COVID-tested flights will be required to test negative for the virus, using a PCR test taken up to 72 hours prior to departure. They will also undergo a rapid test at the airport in
Atlanta prior to boarding. A second rapid test will be required on arrival at the airport in Rome.
Flying the other way, returning citizens will be required to undertake a rapid test at Rome-Fiumicino airport prior to departure for the US. At present, foreign nationals are not permitted to fly in from the EU. On entry into the US, travelers will further be asked to provide information in order to support CDC contact-tracing protocols.
Henry Ting, chief value officer at Mayo Clinic said, “Based on the modeling we have conducted, when testing protocols are combined with multiple layers of protection, including mask requirements, proper social distancing and environmental cleaning, we can predict that the risk of COVID-19 infection – on a flight that is 60% full – should be nearly one in a million.”
