Visiting “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” in Universal Studios Orlando

The Travel Moms Tips For Visiting "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" in Universal Orlando

If you’re Harry Potter fan, odds are that you’ve either visited or plan to visit the Harry Potter-infused land in Universal Orlando – especially now that it’s expanding.

One, try to get there early. Unless you have a multiple day pass and you can return to continue exploring another day. For those who bought only a one-day pass, get there early so you can cover the entire thing before evening breaks. Trust me, you don’t want to miss a thing. The entire section, officially called The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, has been meticulously created with an impeccable attention to detail.

Hogsmeade? Looks exactly like it did in the movies. Every store looks like it’s been handcrafted from your imagination, and you can spend time at Ollivanders getting your wand -in a scene that’s taken almost word for word from the first movie. You can even drink Butterbeer- cold and frozen – at the Three Broomsticks, and you can buy a fake broomstick for just $60.

Stores are detailed to an amazing degree. Honeydukes is packed with sweets and treats, including Dumbledore’s personal favorite – Lemon Drops. Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods is one of the larger shops that you must walk through after exiting the Forbidden Adventure ride. Even the resting area, an Owlery, is charming and feels magical while providing shade a break from the bustle of the crowd.

Beyond Hogsmeade and everything around it, the best part was getting a tour of Hogwarts and going on the ride. This isn’t the typical standing in line experience, waiting for the ride. While you’re moving forward in the line, you’re also moving through Hogwarts. You get to stand in the Great Hall, which shows off the signature floating candles, explore the classrooms, the dungeon where Potions is held, the hallways and staircases with moving portraits – which actually move. Obviously, the ride is amazing, but I won’t spoil that for you – let’s just say it involves dragons and dementors and quidditch.
