Viking Cruises Focuses on Cultural Enrichment With New Partnerships

Viking Cruises Focuses on Cultural Enrichment With New PartnershipsThis week Viking Cruises (www.vikingcruises.com) enriched its impressive portfolio of cultural institution partnerships by two. The innovative cruise line just announced its summer sponsorship of acclaimed English boys choir, LIBERA, a well as the Ballet Sun Valley international festival.

In addition Viking has extended its sponsorship of the prestigious Los Angeles Philharmonic at The Hollywood Bowl for a fifth consecutive season. These partnerships provide continuing proof of Viking’s commitment to boost cultural insight and personal enrichment.

Viking, known as the “thinking person’s cruise,” has partnerships in place with National Geographic’s “Genius,” PBS’ MASTERPIECE, TED, The Metropolitan Opera, BBC, Highclere Castle, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Oslo’s Munch Museum, and St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre.

“Viking’s commitment to cultural exploration extends far beyond the walls of our ships,” said Karine Hagen, Senior Vice President of Viking Cruises. “One of the best ways to explore a destination – whether at home or abroad – is through its music and cultural institutions. We are proud to support world renowned organizations, such as the Libera Boys Choir, Ballet Sun Valley and The Los Angeles Philharmonic, that align with our goal to create special connections between travelers and the cultures of the world.”

The highly praised LIBERA Boys Choir is currently touring in support of their new album Hope and Viking Founder and Chairman Torstein Hagen, an avid supporter of classical music, recently attended the choir’s performance in Westlake Village, Calif. The English boys choir took part in the 2016 christening of Viking Sea in London. LIBERA is among the top selling classical artists worldwide and are three-time Classical BRIT nominees.

Viking is proud to be the lead sponsor of the Ballet Sun Valley international festival, which runs August 21-24. The prestigious event features dancers from six of the world’s leading ballet companies, including the American Ballet Theatre and London’s Royal Ballet. This unique festival was curated by Sun Valley-native and American Ballet Theatre dancer, Isabella Boylston.

For the fifth consecutive year, Viking will sponsor six Los Angeles Philharmonic concerts beginning August 10, at The Hollywood Bowl. Viking’s series features music by European composers whose home countries are destinations on many of its river and ocean cruise itineraries, including Antonio Vivaldi (Italy), Pyotr Tchaikovsky (Russia), Wolfgang Mozart (Austria), Ludwig van Beethoven (Germany), and Johann Sebastian Bach.

Viking is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and in 2017 was named a #1 Ocean Cruise Line, as well as one of the Best River Cruise Lines, by Travel + Leisure readers.

World-renowned Viking cruise lines provide a striking alternative to mainstream cruises. Their smaller ships allow guests to get closer to their destinations, and offer more time in port with more overnights. A trip aboard a Viking ship offers serene Scandinavian spaces, al fresco dining on the rivers and at sea, and immersive, cultural experiences both onshore and onboard.
