Experience The Cherry Blossom Trees This Season From Alexandria, VirginiaThis year, you don’t have to travel all the way to Tokyo or Osaka to experience the beauty that is Sakura. As a matter of fact, you don’t have to even push or elbow your way through the crowds of Washington, D.C. to view the Cherry Blossom Trees this season. Instead, you can enjoy the beauty and the sight of these pretty pink flowers while celebrating the beginning of spring from none other than Alexandria, Virginia.

Beginning from March 31 and running until April 17, the city of Alexandria is offering guests cherry blossom-inspired food and drink offerings and seasonal hotel packages. There are several different options that allow you to take either boat cruises or water taxi services from Old Town Alexandria to Washington, D.C. Old Town Alexandria is a unique experience as the city gives guests an even more intimate encounter with American history and has even more cherry blossom trees lining its historic streets.

Cherry Blossom Monuments Cruise give travelers an opportunity to see Old Town Alexandria and cruise past the spectacular Cherry Blossom-lined streets in the nation’s capital. Your trip will take you past Hains Post and on to Georgetown. The cruise is 45 minutes one-way and approximately 90 minutes round-trip and is offered during peak bloom on weekends.

There are also Cherry Blossom menus available throughout several different restaurants in Alexandria. This year, five Alexandria restaurants are participating, including Virtue Feed & Grain, Vola’s Dockside Grill, Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap, The Majestic, and Rocklands Barbecue. You can try all different cherry-inspired offerings, from a chipotle-cherry margarita at Virtue, to a pork chop with Morrello cherry glaze at The Majestic, to cherry Clafoutis at Lena’s.

The Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa is also offering their signature Awesome Blossom package this year. Guests can hit the ground running with pre-loaded Metro cards and a map of the most popular Cherry Blossom Tree viewing. There is even a Cherry Blossom puzzle for kids to solve during their trip. The package includes deluxe accommodations at Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa, two preloaded SmarTrip Metrorail cards and a $25 daily dining credit for use at hotel’s adjacent restaurant Brabo.
