Here’s Where You Can Eat The Best Mac and Cheese In America

It’s the ultimate comfort food. It’s as American as the classic burger and fries or a hot dog and a coke. Macaroni and cheese, shells, cheese mittens or whatever else you want to call them, there’s no denying that everyone craves a good bowl of the most delicious food on earth, especially when it’s properly made.

And here’s a little secret: we might know where you can get the best mac and cheese in America.

Zuppas is a cafeteria-style restaurant and a local favorite in Neenah, Wisconsin, and in the heart of the Fox Cities. The menu has everything you would expect from New American eats and deli fare to contemporary, low-key meals.

But it’s the mac and cheese that will leave you drooling from the mouth for more.

Good mac and cheese should have a rich, creamy and flavorful cheese, and that’s exactly what Zuppas offers. Sure, it probably might not suit your diet for the week, but eating healthy doesn’t have to mean you need to give up everything you love.

A lot of regulars will tell you that there is never a bad meal at Zuppas as most of its positive advertising comes from word of mouth. To put it simply, it’s the one place in Neenah, Wisconsin where you can get fresh local ingredients and a magical flavor experience that will leave you satisfyingly happy.

But let’s go back to the mac and cheese once more. The made-from-scratch dish is one of the reasons why so many people come back to the establishment every week for their lunch break. Chef Peter Kuenzi makes sure that everything is made as fresh as possible, thanks to the Zuppas Garden, where an impressive amount of vegetables and herbs are grown and brought straight to the kitchen during the summer and fall months.

Since 1999, Chef Peter has been offering local residents fresh, fast, urban gourmet fare to help suit their busy lives. And he is considered a local hero for it, too. Oftentimes Peter will head to his garden (located just across the Neenah police station) to pick out a few things he needs for his evening dinner special. Talk about fresh and healthy farm-to-table eating, right?

Zuppas offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner for dining in or take out, with an extensive menu that includes everything from crab cake salad, shredded beef or pulled pork sandwiches and grilled sandwiches served with tomato basil soup for dipping. The warm pear salad is also a gem. Also check out the Polish sausage and brats with sauerkraut, Dusseldorf mustard and roasted potatoes (or rather, the ultimate Wisconsin meal). If that doesn’t spell out comfort food, then we don’t know what does.
