Disney And Universal Studios Push Park Closures Further Into May, Rephased Reopening Plans Underway
Disney World and Disneyland push their shutdown into May. Meanwhile, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orland Resort have also extended their park closures through May 31 amid the coronavirus pandemic. This includes closures at both theme parks, including Universal CityWalk and Universal Resort hotels.
Disney World And Disneyland Push Their Shutdown Into May
“We know Coronavirus (COVID-19) has impacted many parts of your life – including your travel and vacation plans and we will be eager to welcome you back to our theme parks and destinations when the time comes,” the company said in a statement. “For now, we must make the health and safety of our guests and team members our top priority and we will continue to take guidance from health agencies and government officials.”
Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California currently don’t show any theme park hours through May 9, according to Inside the Magic. Walt Disney World typically publishes theme park hours six months in advance while Disneyland Resort posts their hours 5 to 6 weeks in advance. At this time, there is no set reopening date for Walt Disney World or Disneyland.
Disney Previously Announced That The Temporary Closing Of Both Theme Parks Is Extended Until Further Notice
Disney previously announced that the temporary closing of both theme parks is extended until further notice. No other information has been revealed from the company. State and federal government are working to gradually reopen the U.S. to get businesses running again, but this will be a slow process done in phases.

If the states follow Trump’s guidelines, then Disneyland and Disney World could reopen sooner than expected. But the state should reopen businesses and return to “life as normal” as their own discretion. It’s unclear how Disney will move forward with its plans. Disney wants to remove park hours from the Disney World and Disneyland schedules because they’re aware that both theme parks won’t be reopening in early May or sooner.
More information should come, and Disney could make changes to the schedule. This is a developing story in which we will update more information as it becomes available.
