The Five Most Spectacular Views In Australia

What comes to mind when you first hear the words, The Land Down Under? Maybe you picture jumping kangaroos, the sails of the Sydney Australia Opera House, or maybe a continent well below the equator, simply too far away for a visit?

Hopefully, that’s not the case, because Australia is a world so different from what we’re accustomed to, it would be a disappointment if you decide never to visit.

Not only is the wildlife, people, and culture unique, but there are incredible views that awaiting that will blow you away. Here are 5 of Australia’s most spectacular views that you’ve been missing out on.

#1. The Blue Mountains (New South Wales)

Not much more than a 50-minute drive to the west of Sydney, Australia, you’ll come across the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. For miles, whichever way you turn, you’re surrounded by mountain cliffs and hanging rocks, rolling green valleys, and majestic waterfalls.

If you’re looking for the right sunset picture, the Middle Platform, Katoomba Falls is a must. If you can reach the Sublime Point, Leura, just before dawn, it makes an amazing sunrise location. Lastly, for a great waterfall snapshot, the Valley of The Waters, Wentworth Falls is worth the trip.

#2. Cradle Mountain/Dove Lake (Tasmania)

Some of the most amazing and beautiful views in Australia come from the land of Tasmania. This mountain and lake view located in the Central Highlands of Lake St. Clair National Park, create quite the duo.

To capture a magnificent view of the jagged peaks of Cradle Mountain, stand on the opposite shore of the still peaceful waters of Dove Lake. If you have time, we recommend you walk the circuit around Dove Lake. It’s a leisure 3-hour walk, that’s mostly on boardwalk and walking paths while hugging the mesmerizing lake.

#3. Wineglass Bay (Tasmania)

Not many things on this planet can compare to this mountain’s view while looking down into the opal blue waters of Wineglass Bay. The bay itself is surrounded by green-covered mountains, creating a canvas of pure serenity.

Not only is the bay appreciated for its beauty, but you’ll find amazing water activities including snorkeling, wildlife watching, and kayaking. You won’t be able to reach Wineglass Bay by car. You’ll have to hike a 3-4 hour trail (one way) to get there, or you can take a Wineglass Bay Cruise from Coles Bay.

#4. Mitchell Falls (Western Australia)

If you enjoy an intimate and remote experience, along with gorgeous scenery, let’s check out the Kimberly region of Western Australia. Although challenging and time-demanding, the hike to Mitchell Falls is worth every bit of it.

It’s best to witness these falls during the wet and rainy season, as they tend to slow up during the summer heat. The falls provide several pools where you can go for a swim. Mitchell Falls resides in the Mitchell River National Park.

#5. Wilpena Pound (South Australia)

At the center of the Flinders Ranges of the Outback, rests a truly marvelous sight, Wilpena Pound. It’s a natural rock formation that’s shaped like a crescent amphitheater, that’s best witnessed from the sky.

Fortunately, due to the popularity of this natural wonder, there are now several companies that will help you better appreciate this stunning landscape from an aerial view.

If you want a more intimate experience, there are several great hiking bushwalking trails that will take you to some incredible lookout points.

One of the most sought after hikes is the one that will take you to St. Mary’s Peak. It will take you roughly 6 hours, while fairly difficult, but the panoramic views of the Aroona Valley and the Flinders Ranges is breathtaking.
